Travelbyday wrote: My knowledge of the leveling system includes what the dealer showed me at the RV show. What is the difference in the 4 and 6 point leveling system other than $1k? I would guess two additional pads going down would help if the ground were soft. On a 30’ is it otherwise noticeable? Is it self-leveling or do you still make adjustments? Thanks. Build sheet in progress. I'm considering downsizing to an Arctic Fox. What does the 4-point and 6-point Leveling option run? Currently we have the 6-point on our Redwood, while the Artic Fox is shorter I would still think the 6-point will make it much more stable than the 4-point. You won't need to add anything else for stability with the 6-point, no tripod or anything is necessary with the leveling system. Drop the trailer from the truck, hit auto level and within 2 mins your ready to hook up and enjoy.Re: Vallecito Resort in ColoradoFor those that have been up to the lake area, what the cell coverage like at various campgrounds around the lake? I work remotely from the RV and we're considering heading up there for a month in early August. Need at least voice with AT&T or Verizon and a good wifi, or good 3G signal with AT&T for both.Re: coiled breakaway cable for 5th wheel SEMO Mike wrote: On my B & W hitch I put the loop through the pin which locks the handle in place. We ended up staying through Mid-May this year and when we left it was pretty hot. Next year we think we'll leave in early April like others.Re: Durango, CO to Grand Junction, CO without using Hwy 550?Size of our 5th wheel is also a lot of my concern. The trailers basically 42' long and every bit of 13' 6" tall. I know there's some tight tunnels on the way north to Ouray, just don't recall how much clearance they have. I've driven down 10% grades so that's not too big a worry. I only drive fast in the flats, twisty roads and ascents/descents I'm like a Sunday driver with nowhere to be!Re: Durango, CO to Grand Junction, CO without using Hwy 550? Is it just the grade or is it a shelf road highway (2 lane) with no guard rails where you drop to your death on blind corners... BTW, read sarcasm into that last sentence. I've driven 550 in a car, it was kind of spooky. Especially watching the semi's negotiate it.Durango, CO to Grand Junction, CO without using Hwy 550?Wondering if anyone has driven the route from Durango, CO to Grand Junction, CO? I know from experience to avoid Highway 550, AKA the Million Dollar Highway. Not sure if it even has the clearance and I don't have the balls to drive it with this rig anyway. That dropoff outside of Ouray is by far the scariest thing I've ever seen with a paved road. Keep in mind I've four wheeled some of Colorado's scariest shelf roads. Big difference in driving 2 MPH 12" from a 500' dropoff and driving it at 35-50 MPH with a Redwood in tow! Thinking I'll have to loop around through Cortez and up 141 through Gateway to get to Grand Junction. Pluses are I've never been to Cortez and in Gateway there's a killer secret Auto Museum owned by the owner or founder of the Discovery Channel. Thoughts and advice?Re: Hwy 395 Oregon border to border .That's one of the least populated areas on the west coast, as others mentioned no traffic. I personally love driving through that area. Oregon roads are generally pretty good, especially when compared to CA so you should be fine in that respect.Re: aluminum F150 under test since 2011 jwduke wrote: PAThwacker wrote: didn't audi have that A8 all aluminum car mainstreamed 10 years ago? Didn't Buick have a aluminum V6, 50 years ago??? Yep, Land Rover bought the rights and used them up until 2004. Albeit a V8 version. Also Land Rovers have had AL bodies on steel frames since at least the mid 80's. All this worry and speculation is just from the uninformed. I would expect this will be a home run for Ford and that within a few years all the big 3 follow suit. Meanwhile Ford will wrongfully claim they had an industry first and are a trendsetter... And I like Fords!Re: REDWOOD FIFTH WHEEL 0nTheRoad wrote: I too am sorry to hear of the problems that IUOE150 has experienced but I have to wonder why he took delivery of the coach in the first place? I have a 2013 Redwood 36FB, have had it for about 1 1/2 years and have had very few problems, all minor. During my PDI we found a few things that needed correcting, they were addressed before we took delivery. Our coach is beautifully built and has held up to fulltime living with no problems. The few minor issues were taken care of during our annual inspection all under the 2 year bumper-to-bumper warrantee at no cost to me! I have to chuckle with all the Redwood bashing here and for the criticism of the founders, seriously...these are RV's, RV's have issues, not just Redwood, or Crossroads, or Thor but ALL RV's I challenge you to tell me about any RV that doesn't have design flaws, QC issues or lemons. The Redwood community is growing and the vast majority of the owners are VERY happy with their coaches. There are a few, an extremely small minority, that have had serious issues but in most cases the real problem is with the local dealer who simply don't do their job in correcting problems before the customer takes delivery. So who out there wants to step up and tell me they have the perfect RV??? Agree 100%! Have had our Redwood for about a year now Fulltiming in it since day 1. Absolutely love it. For my needs it's heads and tails above the rest and Redwood has been very easy to deal with up to this point. A bad or lacking PDI can make all the difference in the ownership experience.
