I WAS going to change over the carpet to the laminate but it will have to be postponed. My son had an abundance of the laminate and offered some of it to a home owner..they took it all. :-( Now I will have to wait until next summer, as we're closing up the camper and heading south for the winter. Yep, we leave the fifth wheel in NY and go to our other "permanent" camper in Florida. We've been homebound long enough...the fw provided us a home in NY...but since it's setup permanent we'd be foolish to try and move it. (Our dreams of being fulltime travelers didn't work out.) But I will try to post pics when it gets done. Thank you, everybody, for all your help. Stay safe...and warmmmmmm. See you next spring/summer!Re: Replacing carpet with Tile?Thank you, everybody. I feel confident now and am going ahead and replacing the carpet with the laminate!! I still want to know, tho, if any of you or anyone else, did the slides, too. Just curious. BJRe: Replacing carpet with Tile?Busdriver: That's what we plan on using, lots of throw rugs.Re: Replacing carpet with Tile?ScottG: We are in a unique situation that most of you don't find...lol....we are homebound, rig is more or less set up permanent and we've never had the slides in except about 2 times. No marks from those 2 times. Our slides are level with the main floor when out..in other words, there is no step-up or step-down. And I don't know if there's any adjustment. What you did sounds great, don't know if we could do it. Thanks for the idea, tho.Re: We've gone and done it now......Congratulations!!!! I admire your dedication. There are going to be a few bumps in the road as you learn about your rig, your truck and the highway....but enjoy those moments, have a good laugh and then continue on with your journey. Happy traveling!!Re: Replacing carpet with Tile?Wow, such a quick response...much appreciated. I'm encouraged! Let me ask one more question: Did any of you change over to laminate flooring INSIDE the slideout, as well? (by tile, I guess I meant laminate flooring..it isn't one piece lineoleum...it comes in strips approx. 8"x24", that snap together like tongue n groove)Replacing carpet with Tile?We have a 2006 with 4 slides. We want to replace the carpeting on the main floor (not inside the slides) with snap-in tile (no tools or material needed). We were told by the mfg. that we couldn't do that, something about the slides needed carpet to come in on. Is there any truth to this? Has anybody changed to floor tile in front of the slides? We got a good deal on the tiles and would like to put it down next week. It is simulated hardwood flooring, skid resistant. The carpeting is so worn and thin that the new tile would almost be the same thickness. Thanks in advance. BJRe: Inverter problems? Thanks, everyone! I'm not savvy when it comes to ac/dc and electric things. But I'm still open for more ideas. Maybe it isn't the inverter. Maybe it's the batteries? Something is drawing way too much juice. I'll go check the meter when the dryer is running. Please keep the ideas coming.Re: Inverter problems? Thanks, HappyKayakers, for posting the elec. usages...it gives us something to go on. We have the refrigerator and WH both on electric. I have a washer/dryer that I use quite often. Other than that, we use the tv more in the winter, less in summer....and a computer off and on. That's it. Tooo much??Inverter problems? How do you test an inverter to see if it's bad??? What are some things to look for? Electric bill is horrendous. Everything seems to check out ok in the camper itself.
