I really hope that is a typo and it is +10 MPG, not putting along at 10 mph! :h Yep...meant to be MPG...Re: towing with 1/2 ton towable trailer.Been doing it for over 4 years now. 2011 F150 with Ecoboost and 2013 Cougar X-Lite RES29...Been all over the Midwest and East Coast with over 17,000 miles towing and NO problems...consistently +10 mpg running down the highways...Re: short bed - sliding hitch vs sidewinder? We have a 5.5' bed and use the 5th airborne SW with our rig. Over 12000 miles towing and never a problem. Plenty of clearance and can turn over 90 deg. Re: 5ht Airborne Sidewinder skid plate not levelI usually add air in mine after connected to the truck and air up till it is level...never even put an air gauge on it...just air till level...Re: Short bed manuveringUse one of these and never worry about it...Airborne rides real smooth also! Re: f150 versus f250 rhagfo wrote: TyroneandGladys wrote: What is the advantage/disadvantage of a f250 over a f150 if the drivetrain are the same and the tow capacity on both 15,000lbs? Would be used to pull a 27 foot travel trailer not a 5th wheel. Thanks What 150 has a tow capacity of 15,000#?? Let's start a list. Bigger Stronger frame. Bigger Brakes. Bigger axles (you can't get the same running gear in a 150 as a 250 period).! Bigger axles (Full floating NOT semi Floating) this is more bearing surface, and the axle only turns the wheel, the spindle of the axle carries the load. Keep in mind a 150 Max/Max is just that the Max 150, the 250 is a derated 350! Just because the truck looks big, doesn't mean it is big where it counts! Not enough payload to carry either hitch weight. I can't imagine the thrill of towing 15,000# with a 150! :B Many 150's should be able to tow a 27' TT. It sounds like the 15,000# you are referring to is GCVWR (Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating) this is the total weight of the TV and the TT. Seems we have had this conversation/discussion before... With over 12,000 miles towing my camper and were still waiting for the frame to bend and axles to fall out from under this truck, plus the brakes are larger than your 2001 Dodge. Look it up as they are also electronically controlled disk too. E rated tires all way around including the trailer and no problems at all...not picking a fight just letting you know the F150 can be a very capable truck. Would a properly F250 or 350 be better...no doubt, yes, but the F150 is leaps and bounds better than ANY 15 year old 2500/F250...I know I had a diesel F250. Re: F150 ecoboost towingI have been towing our current camper around the country for over 12,000 miles and am very impressed every time we go out. It does everything we ask of it and delivers impressive MPG while doing it. Gotta run with some dogs too so it has to keep up with them... Re: 2015 Ford V-6 Ecoboost vs V8I pull this one all day long any day of the week and love it. Re: Reese Sidewinder PinboxI have been using this setup for over 3 years now without one bit of problem. We have over 12,000 towing miles and love the setup. Re: Air pin boxesI have a 5AB on mine and like it...but then again I have not tried anything different. I air mine up once a trip and forget about it.
