I need to upgrade my hitch, but my truck doesn't have the dealer prep for the puck system. Has anyone installed aftermarket supports for puck mounted hitches or gotten the Ford dealer to install the factory prep? Is there an affordable aftermarket installation kit that would allow me to use underbed rails?Re: Jayco?I have a JAYCO Eagle and I would recommend getting the double pane windows. I bought mine after Hurricane Michael destroyed my house and we lived in it for 2 years. We couldn't keep the RV cool in the summer even with blackout shades on all the windows, extra insulation in the pantry and closets, and foam covers in the vents. We ran both A/C units and they would kick on early in the morning and run constantly until well after dark. Inside temperatures would get into the mid 80s on sunny days.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2018I'm doing my final packing to get ready for my Monday morning departure. I've been fighting with the military hospital to get my meds. Five trips to the base and I still don't have my heart meds. They called yesterday to tell me they think they have it straightened out. I just need to drive back up to the base and wait in line again.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2018I spent a month in Yellowstone trying to photograph a Grizzly and never got within a mile (literally). I'm hoping to have better luck on my Alaska trip. Great photos of the moose and bear.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2018My old boss's brother was the official vet for the Iditarod. He said that more people are injured by moose than by bears and wolves combined. They just look so big and dopey that people think they can treat them like an old cow.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2018 rag-ftw wrote: We are headed to Custer State Park today. Be there through the weekend we will be in the game lodge campground, spot #27 This is a great state park. We went there about 6 years ago and saw antelope, bison, and wild buros. The buros love apples and carrots.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2018I may delay my departure a week or two. We were walking our dogs on Monday and found a puppy in the road. The vet says her injuries are consistent with either being hit by a car or thrown from one. My guess would be that she was hit by one. She doesn't seem to be very street smart. She's been spayed and is in good shape overall. No heartworm, well fed, no fleas and soft feet. She appears to have been well taken care of and an indoor dog. We're searching for the owner, but no luck so far. I want to make sure the owner has an opportunity to claim her before I leave.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2018 stickdog wrote: rag-ftw wrote: Stickdog, If you have the time, a visit to Custer State Park, in SD is a good stop. The animal sightings on the loop road is guaranteed to be a great experience. We've been there many times going up to I90 in ND it's been 50 years since I was last through there and the DW never has. Catch the black hills on the way back in the fall. There's a herd of wild donkeys there that hang out near a stream. They're little beggers and love carrots and apples.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2018 Veebyes wrote: We have reached one milestone. Made it from the waters of the Atlantic to the waters of the Pacific. Run out of west so next is a turn to the north. Another week or so in OR & WA then almost 3 weeks on Vancouver Island before putting the real North in the sights. 3000 miles behind us. 12000 to go. I've been to 46 states during my career in the Air Force. The only one's left to visit are Alaska, Washington State, Oregon and Hawaii. I'm hoping to hit three of the four on this trip.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2018I just got my new Endurance tires and wheel bearings packed. The rig is in the shop getting the roof resealed. I should get it back the first week of May so i can start packing for my 21 May departure from Florida. I plan on spending some time in Yellowstone and Glacier and then head north in June.
