However, the spark knock you are experiencing is a problem. That engine is designed to run on premium to make the performance advertised. That allows the computer to adjust the timing depending on the load as much as possible. The engine has a piezzo spark knock sensor that senses the knock and adjust the timing to eliminate it. Without the higher octane fuel, it can't get rid of the detonation. So power and engine longevity suffers. The other issue could be the sensor detecting the load on the engine. GM used a manifold Absolute Pressure sensor in the past located in an area that carbon could plug the hole. This prevented the computer from reading the loads correctly and would lead to spark knock on hills without affecting other driveability. Went to three dealerships before learning GMs system and fixing it myself.Re: Towing 6-7000# Trailer with Toyota Tundra coolbreeze01 wrote: Does the truck come with tow mirrors? If not, probably not designed for towing anyway. Wow, I guess my 13 2500 Cummins powered Ram isn't built for towing either since the tow mirrors were an option.....Re: Picked up new truck - 2016 Ram 3500I went to the B and W in 14 for my then new 13 and love it. It is heavy to remove, but mine stays in. I have a long bed and rarely haul much where I need to pull it out. I need to put a lift in my shop if I start pulling it out. BTW, I too have a white long bed, 4x4 13 but it is a 2500. Love mine.Re: Slide out sliding out in tow DownTheAvenue wrote: Is the slide out really hydraulic or is it electric? Typically, the entry level RV's, which a Four Winds is, had electric activated slideouts. If I am correct, then the brake on the electric motor mechanism is not working. No this is hydraulic definitely. I will cut two boards. Haven't thought of that. Thanks.Re: heater problemMine did something similar and I found a huge dirt dauber nest on the burner. Cleaned it and it works great. I have a screen over the exhaust so I don't know how they got in the tube.Slide out sliding out in towI have a 1995 Four Winds fifth wheel with a super slide on it. For the last few trips, the slide has slid out about 5" while traveling. I had to pull over and slide it back in, only to notice it would again be out just a bit down the road. I can't figure out why the hydraulics are leaking and not holding the slide in. I can let it in all the way and as I release the button, I can hear the pressure relieving and see the slide easing out just a little. Any suggestions? The manual valve is closed tight.Re: 700 hp Shelby F150Not sure how they are rating hp now days. I know I've been in a car with bonafide 475 hp and you wouldnt stomp on it like that without exciting things happening to the back end. Been in a 700 hp race car with tubs and slicks and it accelerated much faster than what the video shows.Re: Ram Power WagonYou do realize 1500 is 3/4 ton right? Granted, it is lower than current ratings on other 2500s which are rated in the ton to ton and a half range. It's all relative I guess. 1500 payload is still a lot. I guess as Americans' average weight grows to over 200lbs a piece and people want to haul 4 or 5 adults in a truck, they want that 1000lb payload canceled out and still cary 1500-2000 lbs of payload in the back.Re: 6.7 Cummins Non DEF vs Newer DEF TrucksLate to the party. I'm sure eHoefler meant no harm, but it is just one more misleading statement posted on here. Now how many people read that and now think you can get a 13 or 14 2500 with the AISIN transmission. If his has it, I think everybody wants a picture with some way of verifying it is actually his truck and a 2500. It has to have that dipstick on the drivers side. I have an early 13 2500. I like my 68, and think the whole Aisin thing is overrated. But people are proud to have that Aisin. What was this thread about?Re: new full size frigs 120 vI put a residential fridge in our unit about three years ago. I love it. It is so much better than the Nevercold that was in there. I don't worry about running it when traveling. We have traveled for up to 8 hours in a day without being plugged in and still had ice in it and the fridge was still plenty cold. We don't boondock though.
