I'm into the vagabond lifestyle and as a teacher, I don't have a lot of money for expensive campsites. Sometimes they're great, but not this trip. More of a wandering adventure is what I'm hoping for.Re: Carsick dogUpdate: We have been able to make short trips (10 minutes or so) with no vomiting. Still working on it.Beach boondocking on the mid-east coastLabor Day weekend plans have been cancelled and I am itching to see the ocean. I'm in SWVA on the TN border, so Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina beaches are options. Pretty sute campgrounds will be full, but the reason I bought my new to me class B was so I could go without reservations. I'm not picky about where I sleep. I know parking lots aren't "boondocking" but for trips like this I'm fine with them. I just want to spend a day or two with my butt in the sand and my feet in the ocean. Any suggestions? I hear the Outer Banks isn't necessarily friendly for overnight parking.Carsick dogI've had a puppy for a few months now...a failed foster. He spent the first few months of his life in a crate with no socialization. His first ever car ride was when some stranger grabbed him, wrestled him into a van and brought him to live with complete strangers. He warmed up to us in a week or so, but has not warmed up to riding in a car. He starts drooling and getting obviously stressed before the car even starts moving. The vet recommended ginger snaps before a trip and that did make his vomit smell better. :) I have just bought a Roadtrek. We're trying to introduce him slowly. So far he loves it, but he doesn't yet know that it will turn on and move. Any suggestions on deal I g with a very carsick dog?Re: CanopiesThanks guys. I'm going to see if the Quest will fit in there ok. It's just like an ez up, but cheaper. I've never seen a restriction on free standing canopies either. Most of the places I stay aren't fancy, so I think I will be ok.CanopiesI just bought a 1996 Roadtrek 210 Popular. It does not have an awning which is fine with me because that will make it easier to unhook and tour the sites while visiting a new area. I would, however, like to have some sort of canopy at the campsite 1) to sit under and 2) to make it known the campsite is occupied when I do leave for a while. What have you guys found that works well and can be set up by one person? I will often be traveling alone. I have a cheap Kmart dining canopy that packs away small, but I don't think it could be set up by one person. I also have a Quest brand ez-up style that I have never opened. I bought it recently and am considering taking it back because it is so large when folded up. Space in the Roadtrek is at a premium. Suggestions?Re: CanvasI used Canvas Replacements and was quite pleased. The new one is beautiful.Re: Redecorating project finally finished!I, too, am thinking hybrid in my future. I've considered a small motorhome or small motorhome, but like you, I love the open sleeping in a pup. I travel with my son (and sometimes his friends) so the pup works well for me now, but he's 17, so not many years left of having him as a travel buddy.Re: Redecorating project finally finished!Looks great! Do you travel by yourself? I think just for me, I'd rather have the simplicity of a small travel trailer, but I do love the open feeling of a popup.
