A generator tech on one of the forums (I don't remember which) had a good thread on the Chinese clones. He knew exactly how many hours of operation they were designed for as well as the differences in design between Champion and Honda. They are not an exact duplicate of the Honda just similar. If I wasn't worried about longevity or sound level and was on a budget would buy one. I learned years ago that in most cases you get what you pay for. Go buy a Harbor Freight tool. They copy many tools out there. They look similar and do a similar job but they fail in short order. HF makes them cheap so they can sell them cheap. The only time I will buy a HF power tool is if I need it for only one job- a sheet metal shear for example. If I think I will ever need it more than once or twice I buy the Makita, Dewalt or Milwaukee. Now if Honda made their gensets in China to their standards and sold them a little cheaper we would have something. Good luck Well, Honda is moving generator manufacturing out of Japan but they don't seem to be interested in lowering the price to reflect the cheaper production costs. Who knows, Maybe the Chinese engineers can show them how to put a fuel shut off on the EU2000 watt model finally.Re: Champion 3400 vs 3500 Watt GeneratorOverstock.com has the 100263 model for $1103.99 with free shipping. If you sign up for their email list they will send you an instant coupon that will save you some cash. Champion dual fuel I just bought the 3100W remote start model from them. It was lasted at $933.49, After applying the instant coupon my total price was $830.24 shipped and it was delivered within a week. Champion 3100 watt remote start It has no problem running my 13.5 A/C and it is quieter than I had hoped so that's a big plus. I like not having to hook up two 2,000 watt models and my wife is a big fan of the remote start since she can start it herself.Re: Camping with the Sound Police TrailerTraveler1 wrote: Have to chuckle ... we've been in a park with full hookups for the past two weeks - the guy next to us is waxing his camper -- with the electric polisher whine on high - for hours at a time. I swear my Honda generator is MUCH quieter. Ugh! My wife and I drove through a local COE camp ground yesterday evening that features full hookups so, no need for generator noise. But, Every RV had air conditioners running full blast along with several radio's or outside television's going and people talking and laughing, Kids playing, several large fans set up outside, etc. I don't think an inverter generator of any color would have been very noticeable if someone had decided to fire theirs up for some odd reason. Luckily in my area the few camp grounds that don't offer electrical service have the campsites far enough apart that you can't hear an inverter generator from one site to the next. You're much more likely to hear a radio turned up too loud or folks yelling at the dog or the kids, or the guy that fires up a open frame construction type or onboard Onan generator. These "primitive" campgrounds are generally much quieter than the full hookup areas. I feel bad for the people that have to boondock in CG's that have the sites wedged too close together to escape the noise from the adjoining site.Re: Black roof vent intentionally plugged coolmom42 wrote: Possibly to keep the vent hose from being invaded by dirt daubers and other critters while the RV was not in use. That's a very good possibility if the OP's area has as many dirt daubers as we do here. Anything not covered or screened gets plugged by a mud nest pretty quickly.Re: Trailer Help Needed ? Hardly qualifies considering the OP said - "Looking for the shortest TT (bumper pull) that has an Island Bed and a Slide Out." The Freedom Express 192RBS I've suggested is more than 3' shorter, just 22' 6" coupler to bumper. Even that Lance 1985 is longer at 23' 3". :R Well then, I apologize for not knowing the specifications of the travel trailers that had already been posted by those much more knowledgeable than I am. I deleted the unhelpful suggestion and of course, Beg the forgiveness of my betters who may have been inconvenienced or upset by my foolish and uninformed posting attempt.Re: What are you reading? The Man in the high castle,By Philip K. Not saying it doesn't happen, Just haven't witnessed or heard of a verified incident in 17 years. On the other hand I've cut quite a few people out of wrecked cars that I don't believe would have survived without air bag protection.
