Re: Can toll booths read transponder w/C overhang?
There is a narrow area from which the scanner can "see" your transponder. Originally, we placed ours a bit too high on the windshield and it scanned/worked about 75% of the time. A Toll Booth employee suggested we move our unit a two inches lower, no problems since. Once you find the sweet spot, you should be good to go.917Views0likes0CommentsRe: Winter 2023
We spent most of one winter in Texas 6 years ago. Moved around every week or two instead of staying in one place to experience more of the state. Nice variety of things to do, places to go. I try to create some meals with similar ingredients. Rotisserie Chicken can be stripped and shredded (Sometimes I do in advance and portion) One chicken will give 4-8 servings depending on what you do with it. For one meal dress with sauteed peppers + onions, choice of salsa/cheese/avocado and served on tortilla's. Or Nachos... I will use these condiments above to make quesadillas in a day or two. Another meal you can season chicken and serve with egg noodles or rice and veggie of choice. Sometimes, we grill 2 meats at same time. So next night is reheat. We use Pork Tenderloin slices for one meal then chop leftover meat for another meal. Toss with bbq and Cole slaw on bun or tortillas. Microwave Bacon is quick and easy alternative. 100% Agree with ferndaleflyer & BCSnob. Traffic and parking in DC is difficult. Most areas are very congested. Rush hour 5:30am-10:30am and 2:00pm-7:00pm. Look up the Metro map online. Look at the Metro station locations in relation to the places you want to visit. Metro is the way to go. Cherry blossom timing varies a bit year to year, based on weather etc and is usually updated early-mid March for more accurate timing. DC/MD/VA weather in Spring is anyones guess but it is rarely hot in early Spring. It can be warm in 70s- low 80s. Agree with BCSnob---The Arboretum is great for blossoms and more. There is much more to see and do in the area than most realize. Take the time to do searches based on things you enjoy. Dont forget Monuments and not just the top 5 !!! One of my favorote things: drive downtown in the late eveningto arrive at the Memorial of choice... as its starting to get dark. Google Monuments at night. See the Monuments lit up. I spent my first 50 years living outside of DC. I grew up in Maryland. You do not want to drive in DC, traffic is pretty bad, parking can be a competitive sport. Cherry Hill Park, in College Park MD is your best bet. Its a great place that will enhance your visit and enjoyment. Transportation options offered by Cherry Hill Park to the Metro trains are your best option for enjoying most of the Downtown area. There are more economical RV Park options farther away (State Parks, private and KOAs) if you prefer to drive into DC from a campground farther away. If you plan to visit a lot of the Northern VA area, you might want to move to an RV Park located in VA partway through you visit.Northern VA traffic is notoriously awful. Be warned, it is an expensive area to explore and so worth it. Pack a lunch and snacks if you want to save money. Free Smithsonian Museums make up for a lot. Take advantage of them, they are outstanding. Highly recommend you research the sites you want to see and make a "plan" of sorts. So much to see and will be much easier if you have an idea of where places are located in relation to Metro Train Stations.90Views0likes0Comments
