When we had the RV in storage, it went behind and under the rear of the RV as well.Re: Insurance for full timersWe just updated with Foremost and they quoted Progressive as the best combination of coverage and price for full timing in South Dakota per our needs. We were previously with Brown and Brown of Kentucky through Foremost.Re: Towing laws blknomad wrote: Lets here it for tow dollies with surge brakes. Woo hoo!Re: jack pads new idealWe have had SnapPads on our RV for around 6 months now, they have worked very well in all kinds of conditions from snow and rain to hot and sunny. The manufacturer has come out with another size (10 inches) to fit some other jacks (ours were the 9 inch pads.) We really like not having to climb under the RV to place or retrieve the old boards we used to use for pads, especially when raining or stopping for the night someplace. SnapPads may not be "necessary" and seem expensive, but hey... we spoiled ourselves. I recommend them.Re: tow dolly vs. Tow barNot sure about the "only way to go" as lots of people use dollies without issue. Yes 4 down is a little more convenient but also more expensive to set up. Dolly towing opens up a lot more possibilities for tow vehicles as basically any front wheel drive vehicle can be dolly towed. Once you have a 4 down towed, it is a pain to switch vehicles unless you buy the baseplate and lighting for the new vehicle. (Cha-ching!) For the record, we have done it both ways and are currently using a dolly because of the vehicle we are towing.Re: Connecting Winegard G2+I would plug the receiver in before I powered the power inserter on. That way the receiver can communicate directly to the dome as needed. The receiver is what manages whether or not the satellite signals have already been programmed or it needs to find them again. You can also initiate a "setup" that will start the process all over again from the menu displayed on the screen.Re: tow dolly vs. Tow barWe have towed both ways as well. We are currently towing our Jeep Renegade on a Master Tow dolly with surge brakes. It is cheaper than setting up any vehicle for flat towing, but does take more time and effort at both ends to get loaded and unloaded. We traded the Wrangler for the Renegade since DW wasn't a fan of having the top down on the Wrangler and liked the security of a hard top (plus better mileage!) So here we are dolly towing...Re: Breakers for solarI used the fuses like in the last picture. I then used shrink wrap to seal the splices (and covered them from the elements) and they have been working fine ever since.Re: Connecting Winegard G2+We have a G2+ and your directions seem correct. Once the power inserter is powered, it should provide power to the dome to start the search process. The other way to test would be to bypass the Sat connection on the outside and route the cable direct to the dome through a window to see if the RV cabling is somehow bad.Re: Which weight for South Dakota registration? When we registered our Hurricane they wanted the weight from the manufacturer's certificate. This is typically the GVWR.
