All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Portland Oregon Parks questionThere are several RV parks in far NE Portland, but you need to know that none of them will take an RV more than 10 years old. I'm from Portland, though I've not lived there since 2002. The first time I visited familyin Portland, in my RV, I was extremely disappointed to discover this. The only exception I found was Jantzen Beach RV Park. It's an older park but they accepted my 1999 motorhome. The commute wouldn't be too bad, traveling along Marine drive.Re: Entertainment Center UpgradeYou cannot use HDMI cable to substitute for Coax from the antenna. HDMI is for High Definition signal from a Cable Box, Blu-Ray or other Digital source. Your Antenna uses only Coax. As for using the old coax to "fish" new cable from back to front, it's probably not possible. The manuf. likely bundles several cables with zip ties.Re: Car dolliesI don't believe the writer was asking the pros or cons of using a tow dolly. He's asking for opinions on the specific unit mentioned or for advice on other brands. He stated his Elantra cannot be towed 4-down. I'm sure there are a lot of tow dolly brands out there, but be sure you get one that has surge brakes. I tow my Kia Soul with a Demco "Tow-It 2" It's been great for the 5 Years I've been on the road (full-time) MikeRe: ? Class-A Gas Climbing MPH1999 Winnebago with Ford V-10 towing a Soul on a Dolly. I've been all around the Western US, where there are some serious uphill grades. With one exception I've never been below 30 mph and only rarely below 35. The one exception was a stretch that included uphill hairpin curves. Even then nothing below 20.Re: Attention to detail is the exception and not the rule! No, it's not the norm. I've had my Class A worked on several times at various dealers, including Camping World and have never had a problem.Re: How Hard Is It To Solo In A Class A?I've been solo with a Class A for 5 years. Most RV parks have pull-thru spaces for someone to assist you with back-in spaces. The few times I've had to back up unassisted, I followed the GOAL rule... Get Out And Look, as many times as needed to assure you'er where you want to be and there are no obstructions, high or low. MikeRe: National RV Tropical fluorescent fixturesBefore I lost my '98 Dolphin to a fire, I had replace all the fluorescents with LED. If you are competent with a Volt Meter, you can modify yours very cheaply. I'm not talking about LED Tubes to replace the fluorescents. They're too expensive. Just get a roll of LED lights from Amazon, along with some wiring adaptors. I did all of mine in the Dolphin as well as it's Winnebago replace. Probably cost me lesst than $75 for both RVs. You should be able to find a how-to video on YouTube, along with the part numbers for the LEDs and Adaptors. MikeRe: Extended warranty for older MHWhen I checked Good Sam 5 years ago, they wouldn't insure anything over 10 years old. MikeRe: Replacing converterSomeone has done it before and probably posted a You Tube video. That's how I found mine.Re: dash coverI was working at a fire works business right on I-80 in Wyoming. Shade Pro guys were on their way to a rally, traveling in 2 truks. They stopped to buy some fireworks. I noticed the graphics on their vehicle and struck up a conversation. They gave me an estimate to replace the awning fabric and both slide-out toppers. The installed prices were less than I was expecting, but they couldn't do it until their return trip from the rally. A few weeks later, they did stop and replace my awning. They did a nice job, however the topper fabric was on another truck. We missed connections, so it was not done. Hope to have them install 2 new toppers this summer at the same location.
