The camper was winterized. I used the campground showers and toilets. I used my water hookup to fill gallon jugs to use for dishwashing and handwashing. I used the sewer hookup to dump the gray water. I was there for about 4 months and found it no problem to live that way. Of course, I was solo camping. Might have been a little problem if I had a companion or a child or two with me.Re: Newbie questionsIMO - why not try tent camping first? If your family doesn't like tent camping they may not like trailer camping. I wouldn't invest in a TV and a trailer if I didn't know that the fam enjoyed camping.Re: Lack of sleep optionsRiverside Retro had a twin bed option in the past. I recently saw another trailer with the designation tb which did have twin beds, unfortunately I do not remember the brand. I can see lots of situations where twin beds would be more practical than a queen. I expect the option is available, but not super popular so dealers don't keep them on the lot.Re: 1988 19 Foot Terry Specs & Capacities?Your friend might want to check out Good Old Rvs at http://goodoldrvs.ning.com/?xg_source=msg_mes_network A wealth of info can be found there.Re: NewbT@B-RV.com I am mightily interested in some of the models in this line of lightweight trailers.Re: Help us get back into camping with our new reality!.If you are up to shopping for a TT then you should visit as many dealers and FSBO TT as you can find. Walk thru, sit down, imagine how you would sleep everyone. Would there be enough room in the fridge? In the kitchen cabinets? Enough carrying capacity for your "must haves"? Check out the bunks-is it claustrophobic in the bottom bunk? You will start to get a feel for what might be right for your family. Be sure to stand/sit in the bathroom and make sure the door will shut while on the toilet. . . an important consideration. Best wishes for you for happy camping!Re: Considering this life! How to figure out cost per month???Another good website for you to consider is http://www.familiesontheroad.com/ You will find all kinds of families traveling all kinds of ways.Re: We're baaaaccck!Oh, how nice for you. If I had been able to buy new Riverside was the only one on my list. I decided that I should start with a "learner" trailer before making the larger investment. I love the Retros. Happy trails.Re: Year long family US history tourPlease don't count on the dinette to be a sleeping option for anyone over age 5 or so. In my MH, I made the dinette up for my 9-year-old grandson of average height and found that he was too tall to fit He slept with his legs hanging out the side! Check before you buy AND consider the daily hassle of making the bed and then making the dinette.Re: Best TT for A Family of 7 w/ Nissan NV Passenger Van as TVIf you haven't yet tent-camped as a family, you might consider that before buying a trailer. Your boys are of an age that they might enjoy setting up and taking the tents down. Maybe no one will really enjoy camping. Finding that out after making a few hundred $ investment will be much better than finding it out after making a several thousand $ investment in a large trailer.. Maybe the kids will enjoy the tents so much that they won't want to sleep in a trailer. . .
