Our Prime Minister has said the border will remain closed to non-essential travel as long as necessary, and at least until the end of May. I don't know where you are planning to travel in Canada, but I'm from BC, and all our provincial parks are closed indefinitely. Sure hope we will be opened up a bit by June, but I won't be holding my breath.Re: Field WalkThank you for sharing. I had the sound turned up so that I could hear the sheep, and my BC, Nash came running in to see what was going on. We don't have our own sheep, and as we are self isolating, he is missing his training.Re: Trip report: Southern Sequoia Nat ParkSpectacular images. Thank you for posting.Re: Lakeside RV & Casino - PahrumpWe have stayed at Lakeside several times, and enjoyed it. We have stayed at this time of year each time, without reservations and had no trouble getting two sites next to each other with our friends. There is not many pull-throughs but with the back-in sites you can disconnect and park your truck next to your rig. We had lots of room, but our trailer and our friends' 5er are both only 33 feet overall. One point to remember is to lock your truck at night. I had forgotten, and although they have security driving around we lost some valuable camera equipment. Of course, I only blame myself.Re: Dogs with jobsYes, please!! I love working sheepdog tales. Love the lambs, and how the dogs interact with them.Re: Permit issuesWe and a group of friends will be crossing at Nogales in two weeks. Thanks for the heads-up.Re: We're going camping! We were camping in Yakima, WA last year and the park filled up with many families that all seemed to include 10 - 11 year old boys. Several of them started to go across to a field to play catch, when they noticed that they would be crossing our campsite, stopped, and started to walk around. We told them that they were welcome to take a shortcut through our site (it was very large). We had a nice conversation with them, and found that they were from N.Wenatchee and were attending a baseball tournament. They were the nicest, most polite group of boys ever! Have a great trip and enjoy the tournament.Re: Dog fears thunder! Our female border collie was extremely noise phobic. I found that along with a Thundershirt, giving her 3mg of melatonin worked well for her. It can be given up to 3x a day. Google 'melatonin and thunder phobia' there is lots of information available. I found that Rescue Remedy was just too short-lived, the effects lasting only 15 minutes or so. Paige was a trialling sheepdog (now retired) and interestingly enough she could work sheep during a storm, and it did not seem to affect her. As soon as we finished, she would start to panic. Unfortunately, a few years ago, Paige's anxiety escalated to full-blown panic attacks. We arrived home one day to a completely destroyed dog-room door. Our little 30 lb. girl had destroyed her crate, and then chewed and ripped a 3 foot square hole in the door.:E Our other BC was still calmly napping :) She is now on fluoxetine (prozac) daily with alprazolam (xanax) added during extreme anxiety, and is doing very well. MargaretRe: Crossing Canadian Borderhttp://www.inspection.gc.ca/animals/terrestrial-animals/imports/policies/live-animals/pets/dogs/eng/1331876172009/1331876307796 Dogs may enter Canada if they are accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate. Rabies Vaccination Certificate The European Union pet passport is an acceptable alternative to the rabies vaccination certificate as long as all the required elements outlined below are included. The rabies vaccination certificate must: be written in English or French; be issued and signed by a licensed veterinarian; identify the animal (breed, sex, colour, and weight); state that the animal is vaccinated against rabies; indicate the date of vaccination; indicate the trade name and the serial number of the licensed vaccine; and specify the duration of immunity (otherwise, it will be considered valid for one year from the date of vaccination). Canada does not require a microchip or tattoo identification for pet dogs.Re: Highway West VacationsThis past February we stayed at Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort, in Borrego Springs, CA, which is now owned by Highways West Vacations. We really enjoyed it, and the staff were great. The monthly rate for next season, however, has increased by 50% (They are apparently improving the amenities). With the Canadian dollar being so low, it's really going to hit us in the pocketbook this year!
