Usually if canceling this far in advance the CG will allow full refund, as they fully expect to rent the site. Or at least will charge a deposit fee. However, if they informed you of those policies when you make the reservation, you have no recourse with them. But you have nothing to lose by pleading your case with the owner. Try that. Otherwise just eat the expense and use the credit later in the year.Re: Considering these 4 FWs - Opinions wantedJayco isn't what it use to be. My vote is KZ.Re: 5th wheel teething problems? Or junk?My Open Range gave me nothing but problems since the day I bought it. A real POS from day one. Back to the factory for repairs, and they fixed all that needed repairing. But new problems kept cropping up. Then it got worse. Finally got rid of it when the payoff crossed below the value. There are just some real bad trailers out there. Sounds like you got one. Trade it if you can.Re: Which 5th Wheel for Full TimeingJust bought a DRV Traditions. Manufacture date was 7/14/2014. Pre- Thor. Quality of design is there. Build quality seems good. But time (and mileage) will tell. According to the advertising brochures the Traditions model is targeting the Fulltimer market, that towes with a diesel SRW F250/2500 or above. It seems DRV has concluded that there other models have taken them out of the mainstream of clients that don't want to tow with HDT's. I am one of those people. I don't full time now...but spend 8 months of the year in my 5th wheel. The other 4 months, I travel close to home...and enjoy camping. So they now have a model for me. Hope Thor allows DRV to continue to operate as they have.Re: firestone tiresFirestone Transforce HT fan here. Never a problem with them on several trucks and 5 th wheels.Re: Open Range vs Jayco EagleI had a 2011 Open Range 393RLS. Nothing but TROUBLE from day 1 til the day I traded it. Cannot recommend OR to anyone. Nicely appointed, but TERRIBLE build quality.Re: Tailgate questionI have had a V gate. But now use the stock tailgate. I like it much better than the V' Gate. I also have a bed cover to keep things dry and safe. And locking the stock tailgate adds some security for the items stored in the bed.Re: Cable driven slideouts mechanismCable slides work great until they don't work great any more. Then it is really very tough to find anyone that really knows how to fix and align them properly. It's best that you learn as much as you can about them and learn to fix and align them yourself. Then you'll have no problems.Re: Any Open Range owners on the forum? We have a 2011 Open Range 393 RLS. It has been a HORRIBLE WRECK of a trailer. We bought it new. After having many issues during the warranty period, we ended up taking it back to the factory for service. They removed the slideout and replaced the floor. They fixed the leaking tanks. Replaced the kitchen floor. And lots of other stuff. They did a great job. And we thought our problems were over. NOPE. Just beginning. Leaking water heater, Leaking shower stall. Exterior discoloring, and more. There is no way anyone should buy a 2011 Open Range ANYTHING. Floor plan and everything else looks great. But it is a real bad trailer.Re: BEST PLACE TO CHECK FOR LEVELThe stove. Round and flat pancakes. And eggs that cook where you drop them. And the oven will be level too. As will the fridge. And the counter tops. The floor will be close enough. And the doors won't auto close or open.
