I had installed (1) layer of 3/4" stall mats and a 3/8" thick bed mat that I had from another truck on top of the stall mats. I ended up having plenty of cab over clearance.Re: Road tripping for used TCsAbout 2 weeks ago I saw a 2019 Arctic Fox posted for sale on FB. After talking with the seller, I felt comfortable that it was a what I was looking for and also a fair price. I decided if I wanted to get it, I better act fast. The seller assured me he wouldn't sell it before I came to see it. I used some air miles to book a flight that evening and was looking at it 2 days later. I live in Michigan, seller is in Vermont. The camper is in excellent condition, we did a sales agreement and I left them a deposit. I'm heading out there next week to finish the deal and bring it home. The trip is a 12 hour drive each way.Re: Cabover clearance w/new truck? Thanks for the link, I'll see if anyone on that group has any input Ford did away with the shark fin antenna, my truck has (2) lower profile antenna's, 1 on each corner at the rear of the cab.Cabover clearance w/new truck? In the past I've had a few truck campers, (2) AF 990 and an EC 1165 that I hauled on a 2006 F-450. I never had any cab clearance issues with any of them just using just a 3/8" standard bed mat on top of a spray in bed liner. My new truck is a 2022 F-450 with Line-X bed liner. I have the TorkLift tie downs installed and have been keeping an eye out for a used truck camper. I recently located a 2019 AF 1140 and am planning a trip (12hr drive each way) to go pick it up next weekend. I was thinking of getting the 3/4" thick rubber horse mats. Does anyone have any experience with hauling an Arctic Fox in a newer Ford truck? How much cabover clearance is there? Will a 3/4" thick mat be enough?Re: Need Toy Hauler with 15' garage or more, What to look for?Raptor 415 (15') Jayco Seismic 3815 (15') Grand Design Momentum 398M (18')Re: vintage Alaskan on Madison CLThe ad says it’s a 10’ Lots more pics Asking $1800Re: F350 truck camper certification Kayteg1 wrote: Good find ardvark, but the pdf shows once again Ford ignorance in the subject. They recommend COG in the zone in front of rear axle, when everybody knows that long TC will have it behind the axle. Same forcing stiffer front sway bar, where camper load makes the front lighter. :S I thought a heavier duty sway bar had more to do with controlling body roll than load capacity? With a camper the weight is up high which increases body roll or lean when turning or making a quick lane change. Heavy duty sway bars on both ends help control that.Re: Dry bath v/s wet bath BlackButte wrote: What sold me on the wet bath was the toilet position. In the dry bath configuration there wasn't room to take care of business. I've never had a problem with the walls sweating and we camp year round across the country. We use an expansion rod to hang waders, wet coats, etc. We've used various types of mats to cover the floor after after taking a shower so we have something dry to stand on once the floor is wet. Right now we have a microfiber mat with rubber backing from Camping World. With rare exception we take a "Navy" bath to conserve water while boondocking so the entire bath doesn't actually get wet. If we do need to dry the bath, a microfiber towel does the trick nicely and dries quickly. Also, having the wet bath option for our floor plan gave us much more kitchen counter space. I also prefer the wet bath for the same reasons, overall smaller bathroom gives more kitchen space, more leg room when sitting on the head, and more room to shower. Also as a bonus, every time I take a shower I'm also cleaning the whole bathroomRe: The "Walking TC"Did anyone else think this was just an April fools joke?Re: Ordering my new Arctic Fox..option questions dhull wrote: dhull wrote: jmckelvy wrote: Not sure you need the folding grab handle. It appears the 992 has a ladder in the same place as the 990. With the Fox Landing you enter and egress right by the ladder which makes a great grab handle for getting up or down. We use it for that purpose all the time. Your right we use ladder rather than grab handle but the grab handle does make it possible to open the door when standing on the ground otherwise, especially if tc is mounted, you'd have to stand on steps. Actually we have 2 long handles on the rear of our rig, 1 of them is the foldout grab handle which I agree is worthless. It's the long handle that reaches from the bottom of the door to above the latch and attaches to the latch that's worth having. The "EZ Open Handle" option is the long handle mounted on the door that attaches to the door latch, which makes it possible to open the door when you can't reach the door latch. I don't have (and didn't want) this option since I'm tall enough to reach the door latch while standing on the ground even when the camper is on the truck. This option could be easily added at anytime. I also agree that the folding grab handle option is not needed since the ladder is in the perfect position to be used as a grab handle. I think the ladder actually interferes with "folding grab handle" option.
