We have been to Palenque five times and Cozumel diving 15 times. Once rode the train from Laredo to Merida...that was a few years ago...I would say we are 50-50. Biggest obstacle is our 2008 Ford diesel pickup burns supposedly only low sulfur diesel, although on a one week trip to northern Mexico 5-6 years ago we did burn several tanks of Mexico normal diesel with no ill effects....Archaeology sites, sun, beaches, tropics, markets, snorkling these days, will be 69 yrs old by then, rural areas, local sites, canyons, springs, caves and we would be especially interested in Tikal and Calacmul (sp). We have driven to Cozumel once. Driven to the Yucatan 3 times, and flew and rented cars the others. Spanish so so, i.e., not so hot...Little current practice. However, we love birding and photography. Would love to bird again at Palenque, drive the road to San Cristobal, see the Mot-Mots once again at the Sacred Well at Chichen Itza and much more....May be able to talk an archaelogist and fluent Spanish speaker as well as accomplished Mexico traveler for decades to go with us especially if I pick up the fuel, etc....On Ward Thru the Fog...The Truckcamper from Browder, KY..pls send personal msg with ph # and I will call.Re: NJ turnpike tollsNJ tolls may be high but the gas is the cheapest in the country.Re: Need help finding an RV Park in NJ west of New York City. You cannot beat Liberty Harbor. Follow the directions and do not drive there during morning rush hours. We have been there 15 times. Much closer than any other park, esp. Newburg.Re: Best route through Nashville?Avoid rush hour morning and afternoon and Nashville is no problem.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Checked battery water levels. Good. Will continue to keep on a trickle charge. Also sprayed the legs and basement with bug spray and around the interior floor and slide-outs trying to keep spiders esp. from getting started. No real spider issues in the 6 years we have had our double slide by Okan. The very heavy batteries are getting harder to check water levels each passing year. Next time I may buy batteries that never need the water checked.Re: Okanagan 117 DBLIt is not difficult to unload or load with the slide already out. Extend the side slide, not necessary with the rear slide, jack up the T/C an inch or so, drive the truck out a fot or so, unhook the electric cord. Pull all the way out. Lower the T/C and add 3 jacks underneath to each side, especially the side slide "side" as my experience says the internal construction is weak, or not as strong as it should be. But since following the above procedure I have had no problems. Knock on Wood.Re: Okanagan 117 DBLWe have a Okan 117 DBL. Purchased new in '08. Put it on a F450. One lesson we have learned is never take the slides, esp. the side slide, in or out unless sitting in the truck. The internal bracing-support is weak, and that can droop and the slide can hang up when running the slide in supported on the legs only. When that happened I had to put an extra jack under the slide to bring that side back up level, and that did the trick. No problem with this the past two years.Re: Cave Country RV Campgrond?Mammoth Cave National Park campground.Re: Your favorite Texas campground?Guadaloupe Mt. National Park campground. Perfect base for hiking in the Guads.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Touched up the T/C inside, fairly clean already...changed the sheets and it is ready for our old friend to stay in next week. A studio apt. How about that. What would an extra guest bedroom and bathroom cost to add to your house? Not to mention an extra kitchen and living room with a sofa. Cozy, eh.
