Really depends on the income. If one of you would be close to capping the SS portion of FICA at 118.5k, it would be best to add additional 1099 income to that person. If neither of you would cap Social Security it would probable be a wash. I prepare a number of taxes for people who travel for work and all situations are unique. I had a receiver welded to the rear frame of my Sunset Trail Reserve. I carry my Honda 3000 on a receiver type platform. Also had the platform modified to add a second receiver about 2' above the first for a bike rack. Works great. The rules for deducting mortgage interest on a second home are: Has to have a kitchen, bathroom and you have to spend 14 days in it. One additional limit, you can only deduct the mortgage interest (first and second combined) on up to 1,000,000 in mortgage balence. If you meet all of those requirements you can deduct the interest no matter what kind of vehicle it is on. In addition if you are paying lot rent and a portion is divided out for property taxes or you pay property taxes separately, you can deduct those also.226Views0likes0Comments
