There are a bunch of fail safes built in to furnaces, and sometimes they fail. No pun intended.Re: Perfect BBQ for a BIt looks very nice Lynn - thanks for sharing. I was leaning towards the Volcano 3, but will have to look in to this one a bit more before deciding. As an aside for those that mentioned it being somewhat spendy, I believe that is 249 Aussie dollars. (About $194 USD)Re: High top conversion van Handling in the wind Handbasket wrote: Switchback & Ted66, after a _lot_ of work, sweat, money, and a few tears, I traced much of my '99/'00 Roadtrek Dodge's evil wind & curve handling to soft sidewalls on Michelin LTX tires, even in load range E. Jim H. A belated thank you Jim. (Switchback, I apologize for hijacking your post). Did you find a firm walled tire that improved the handling, and if so, would you kindly advise which it was? I will get my RV to the alignment shop this coming week (time permitting) and will try the positive caster setting first, only because it's more cost effect than replacing 4 otherwise good, near new tires. Maybe we'll put some wheel spaces on the rear while we're at it. Thanks again!Re: Outside shower compartment door fell off :-( Now what?!I wish it were that easy. Ours is much different than that - the compartment door matches all other compartment doors, more like one would find on a Class A, not to mention its painted the same color as the coach is too. The one in this brochure is like ours, only in white and blue. Thanks though.Re: Outside shower compartment door fell off :-( Now what?!Thank you so much Veebyes! I had just gone out to look a the RV and imagined fasteners all over the compartment doors - not very pleasant to my otherwise very sharp little RV. I'll give the 3M product a try and safety wire the door on the inside via the lock mech, at least until I'm confident that the adhesive will hold long term. Much obliged!Re: High top conversion van Handling in the windOur LT (Dodge chassis) is the exact same way. We just purchased it used over the summer (2003 model). Exact same handling characteristics that you've described. I've also found that in non-windy conditions, it will handle fine on some road surfaces (the concrete highways of Fl for example) yet will wander ALL over on some asphalt roads (like I81 through Virginia.) I40 through New Mexico with 35-45 mph gusts was harrowing!! With no winds, it drove like a champ on the same interstate. The previous owner made no mention of handling concerns, and during our test drive on a rural road it seemed to handle fine. The prior owner had just put news tires on it and new shocks. Hmmmmmm. Through lots of research, I think I *may* have stumbled across the cause, and better yet a solution; the caster of the front wheels needs to be very positive! Before we spend a penny on sway bars, spacers, Bilsteins etc, I'm simply going to have the alignment checked for positive camber on the high end of the specs for the chassis. As mentioned, ours is a 2003, and had nearly 100k miles on it when we bought it, so it's been driven. I surmise that the tire shop set all alignment parameters to dead center of specs, presuming they were doing the 'right thing' for their client. Once the weather clears and I get ours to a reputable mid-sized truck alignment shop, I'll report back with the findings and results (if any). This is the articlearticle that enlightened me. I then did additional research and am cautiously optimistic.Re: Outside shower compartment door fell off :-( Now what?!Thanks everyone (well, most of you :-) ) for your replies and suggestions. I don't like the idea of dotting the side of the little rv with fasteners, but I think it's needed. I may goes with these type of fastenersfasteners as some of the door/compartments are lockable.Outside shower compartment door fell off :-( Now what?!On our first BIG trip in the new-to-us LT Class B, I stopped on the way to the Grand Canyon to winterize as we approached cold weather. During the process, as I opened the outside short compartment door, it literally fell off in my hand. It seems that the adhesive used to affix the door to the hinge had failed after about 11 years of usage/age. I'm very glad that it came off in my hand and not while traveling I40 at 70MPH. Has anyone else had a similar problem, and if so did you find an adhesive that you could trust to reattach it? I suspect I'll have to drill it out and use low profile stainless hardware and rubber seals to keep it on there for the long haul. And I probably should do the same to all of the other compartment doors before they too, have adhesive fail. Appreciate any words of wisdom. Thanks!Re: Crowds in the Keys ?There is SO much more to the Keys than just Key West. In fact of all of the Keys, Key West is the lowest priority for my wife and I. If you are very diligent and start well ahead of time, you *might* be able to patch together a number of nights at various state parks in the Keys. A fishing buddy and I did just that 5 years ago. We were constantly on the move, but pulled off a 30 day fishing adventure with very little planning ahead. Your signature indicates boats - be sure to take one! A shallow draft boat with a wide beam is great for back country flats fishing. (We've never been to Quartzite although we did stop by the Grand Canyon (and the Smokys) on our way home from the Keys very recently :-) A little detour on our way home to the DC area!)Re: Do you get as excited heading south as my wife and .. I don't know if I'm blessed or cursed though - I'm a business owner (seasonal) and the work just won't stop! We should have left for Fl by now but those pesky customers keep coming :-) Although we have 11 days reserved in Long Key SP, I'm truly looking forward to 'free styling' with no agenda and no watch. Perhaps we can slip out of town next week. *Fingers crossed* Meanwhile, it's snowing to beat the band today! We'll be checking into Long Key for 14 days on Dec 5th Stopping on the way down at Wekeiva Springs SP Jack L Our reservations start on Dec 6th, although I'm not sure about that arrival date at the moment. We'll be at #14, in a white Leisure Travel class B with blue trim. Please stop by and introduce yourselves. I've never heard of Wekeiva SP, but just looked it up - it looks wonderful! I'll look in to it further ;-) Ted, Myong and Ginger the Cairn Terrior
