And tires are 2 years old under 500 miles on them all the other running gear is in good shape. Bearings repacked last year and new seals, brakes adjusted . Trailer is solid and everything works as it should. I will be pulling it to South Fork Co last part of Aug. :)Using an older travel trailerI have a 97 Tahoe Lite 21 foot, I generally camp with in 100 miles or so of home. I am wanting to pull it to Colorado this summer a 650 mile trip one way. I do all the regular maintenance on the trailer, brakes, repack bearings and ect. The trailer is in good condition but, I am hesitant in pulling a trailer of this age that far...Should I be worried ( I worry about everything that could go wrong) or is anyone on the forum pulling old trailers around the country? Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. Thank youRe: Sorry GM, I switched to RAM NC Hauler wrote: br549redneck wrote: I went from a 2011 ram 2500 to the 2011 chevy 2500 not "OLDER" by any means. So am comparing apples to apples. Glad your taking the hit of buying new every 2 or 3 years. Leaves the rest of us some good used cars to look at without paying the new car price. I wouldn't own a brand new truck or coach as far as that goes. I will let some one like you pay the big money for all the newness and spend the money I saved on things the wife and I both enjoy. Wow, more assumptions...you "assume", I take a hit....and don't even know me...I purchase at employee cost, plud any incentives...trucks are paid for when purchased.... Guess it boils down to "taste"...Last Chevy I tried out was a 2013 before I purchased the 2013...now I am comparing LTZ to Longhorn trim and 3500 Dually's to 3500 dually's...so that's the big difference. Last 2500 I owned was in 03' To me, the Ram looks better, inside and out than the new Chevys', look better inside, not as much "plastic", and with the all new frame, front and rear suspension, medium duty diesel engine coupled to a medium duty tranny...heck, I can't lose.. oh, and I'm more than glad to take very, very good care of all the trucks I've ever purchased and then buy new every 2 or 3 years...low mileage and in excellent condition when I get rid of them. After 4 yrs. in the military, purchasing and reparing old vehicles while over seas, I said, if I could afford it, I wouldn't buy used again...on a few occasions I have, but rare.....Seeing as how you know so much about me and know what kind of "Hit" I take, can you tell me if I can go ahead and retire in 2 years?? I mean, you have a crystal ball or seem to think you know my financials and you don't know me from Adam, or anything else about me for that matter. Funny thing is, I like Chevy just as much, if not more than you do..bet I've owned more..but won't "assume" that...and WOULD go back to them if I needed to...you just came on this thread and trashed Ram period, it appears that was your only intent....heck, you even compared a Ram gasser to a Chevy D/A...We're talking about diesels here...but I understand your agenda:) HEY, my son was born in Wichita Falls TX back in July of 71', courtesy of Uncle Sam, USAF, Shepherd AFB...had Tech School there....appears the only thing we have in common....cool:)... No sorry man you will never be able to retire spending your money on vehicles every 2 or 3 years.I just don't see it in my crystal ball. Now me I am retiring next year at 54 and going fulltime with my used truck and 5th wheel. I didn't trash Ram YOU ASSUMED I did I just relayed my experience with the truck I had. And the OP never mentioned diesel he has a gasser. Spending all that money on new trucks has fogged your brain. And you can say all you want about not taking a hit when buying new everybody knows the truth anytime you buy new you take a hit. I don't care if you get it at employee cost you still pay for being the first owner.Re: Sorry GM, I switched to RAMI went from a 2011 ram 2500 to the 2011 chevy 2500 not "OLDER" by any means. I see a lot of REALITY. For instance say your going on one of your 800 mile trips. Your transmission goes out, you blow a couple of tires and its 40 miles to the nearest town. Or your fridge, heater, ac goes out. With $400 a month it would darn sure be an adventure not something I would want to try. And with the pain and suffering your going through one trip to the emergency room and you have lost more than your $400 monthly allowance.Re: Sorry GM, I switched to RAMYeah it had a 5.7 my mistake eyes aren't what they used to be. ("Cadillac to Pontiac"...sounds more like an "uninformed", not real experience) Oh really "Flawed" you say I am not "loyal" to any manufacturer I just related my own experience with the one Ram VS Chevy's that I have owned. The RAM couldn't even come close in ride, handling, quality of the interior and performance. One must be awful hard on trucks to have a PILE of them in just 39 years....just my biased opinion...Re: Sorry GM, I switched to RAM Cummins12V98 wrote: br549redneck wrote: I just switched the complete opposite. I think this truck will do what I need. It will be a big step up from the 2500 ram gasser. Now need to find a good used 5th wheel.Re: 2011 Chev silverado 2500 2962# capacity updatedOK got the capacity sticker. Cant figure out how to post pic but the sticker says "should never exceed 2962 lbs "
