That is extremely helpful, especially knowing that there are alternatives if they have it barricaded.Re: Eastern Shore of Virginia Welcome CenterThanks. I had seen that re the VDOT situation. I am pretty sure that the Eastern Shore of Virginia Welcome Center is not a VDOT facility.Eastern Shore of Virginia Welcome CenterWe have a potentially urgent medical problem developing that may necessitate a trip to Connecticut for diagnosis and treatment in mid-May. We would be completely self contained on the way north with no need to use restrooms and with a truck with a large tank so minimal fuel stops. Some of the places we normally stop are still open. Does anyone know if the Eastern Shore of Virginia Welcome Center at the northern end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel in Cape Charles, VA is still allowing overnight parking? I was unable to reach them by phone.I-95 in NC & SC - 73 Miles Closed in NCFrom the current NC DOT web site, https://tims.ncdot.gov/tims/ I-95 CLOSED THROUGH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA I-95 is closed in both directions between Exit 138 (US 64) and Exit 65 (NC-82) near Dunn, due to flooding and a crash. Through traffic from I-95 in Georgia is advised to use I-16 West to I-75 North to I-81 North to I-64 East back to I-95 in Virginia. Traffic from I-95 in Virginia is advised to use I-64 West to I-81 South to I-75 South to I-16 East back to I-95 in Georgia. So far it looks to be open in SC but the rivers in the region have not yet peaked let alone receded so it is not clear how long the closure will run and whether there will be more extensive closures.Re: Who flat tows a Ford Explorer ?Expecting delivery of a 2017 Explorer XLT on May 23. Will be flat towing it. To flat tow requires 4WD and either the 3.5 engine or the larger ecoboost which is not available in the XLT. Check the owners manual on line for details.Re: South TexasI suspect that the OP saw the rig of Kat and Roland of www.rvtrailsandtails.com. They should be in South Texas now as they left New Orleans a bit ago. They both write a good blog.Re: Adding second battery, need bulkhead connector for cables? The Anderson PowerMod HP Series B posted by bb_94401 looks really interesting as it allows for the use of 4/0 cable if you get the right part. It also looks like the mating cycles is severely degraded if you mate it under load compared to the 500 cycles under no load. It might make sense to put some form of disconnect in the positive side to allow a no load connection. One thing that was not clear (but I may have missed it) is the question of polarity. It seems to indicate, but not clearly, that the plugs have polarity which would be nice so that they only go together one way, pos to pos and neg to neg. Avoiding sparks and explosions is always good when working with electricity. I am thinking about adding a battery in the truck bed as a way to expand the size of my battery bank as well as there is no way to add another battery in the battery compartment. Thanks to bb_99401.Re: Propane. Anyone else have a tank leak with a closed valve?Had one recently that was just like you described. Turned out to be a pinhole leak in one of the pigtails about 1/2" from a crimp. Not easy to find as it depended on hose position which varied a bit each time the bottles were pushed me in and locked in place.Re: ezpassActually, for the NYS Thruway a truck camper and EZ Pass presents some issues. Since it is removable we are a LOW vehicle and the toll is about half of that for a HIGH vehicle. It is hard enough to get the right ticket from he attendant even if you confirm it if they are not paying attention. I keep the EZ Pass in the bag as I would have to contest every trip to remove a high charge and replace it with a low.Re: A thank you to Keith at NLWe have a Northern Lite 10-2 CD SE and every time we have contacted Keith he has been incredibly helpful. It seems that it is a very conscious decision to run the business this way and a smart move. We would certainly recommend Northern Lite and would buy again. Happy campers!!!
