All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: mobile DVRHi Bumpy!! I guess the term "mobile DVR" threw too wide a net. The systems to which I am referring is not like the DirecTV or Dish dvr's. These are purpose built as a multi-camera recording system. They record to EITHER a hard drive OR a solid state device ( drive or SD card) depending on the type of system. My intent is to wire my three cameras into the DVR, along with a fourth forward facing camera, to record events as I drive. I was coming back from Florida when a large truck loaded with scrap metal flew passed me at what must have been 75-80. A piece of 4 inch steel pipe flew out and damaged my front cap. Needless to say, the truck never checked up and I was unable to get a tag number. I think I would have had a better chance of locating the individual if I had an HD recorder...maybe-maybe not. I have found numerous systems that record video, GPS, speed, and other data for the user. I'm wondering if any have been installed by intrepid RVers out there!! :) Here is just one of many I have found. Thanks again, mobile DVRI have searched the Internet (of things:B ) and have found a lot of mobile DVR systems. My question to the group is: Has anyone installed a recording system and connected the RV factory mounted cameras?? (Backup and two side mirror cameras.) I am looking for one to provide similar functionality as a dash cam in case of an accident or other incident. I know DieselBoss has one for truckers which I believe can be adapted but I would really like to hear opinions from someone who has actually installed a unit. Thanks in advance!!!Re: Canadian Campground PicsThis is our first time visiting Nova Scotia. We had a great time visiting our northern neighbors and met some really fantastic folks. Here is the North Sydney KOA on Cape Breton site 12. This is a wider view of the site. This the view we had from our Windshield. Re: Hershey PA to BostonThanks to all the advice...that's what makes this a great forum.:B I will definitely take a look at the alternate routes paying toll vs increased fuel. That's a valid point. Since our friends are towing a car, I will leave that option up to them. Traveling secondary roads ( US Highways) doesn't bother me. We are all retired and taking the slow route sometimes takes us to interesting places. I wish all safe travels this year!! Thanks again,:)Hershey PA to BostonHi All, DW and I are about to leave for Nova Scotia and are looking at spots along the way. We will stay a few days in Hershey PA, then head to the Boston/Cape Cod KOA to visit friends. In looking at a route which will be free from tolls as much as possible, we are looking to take I-81 out of Harrisburg PA then I-88 over to where it connects to Highway 20. Do either of these Interstate Highways have toll booths that I might not have found?? Thanks in advance for any information. If there's a better route between Harrisburg PA and Boston ( without tolls ).....I'm all ears!! :B :BRe: How to remove water stainsI use Sodium Percarbonate. Thats the active ingredient in products like OxyClean. It's available online ( Amazon) in different quantities like 5lb, 10lb, etc. It is mixed with a little warm water and breaks down into Hydrogen peroxide and soda ash.....completely environmental friendly and works great. We use it for a bleach substitute in the laundry (our house is on a septic tank system) as well as cleaning the black tank. Good luck !!!Re: How to remove water stainsI use Sodium Percarbonate. The Badlands NP is a great place to hang out for several days. We really enjoyed it. This was our view from the campgrounds. Have a fantastic year long trip ! :BRe: NJ/NY Highway 209Thanks to all !!! We are headed to Nova Scotia in August and won't be carrying any weapons.....except maybe the odd kitchen knife or two. :B I certainly don't mind slower speeds. Now that DW and I are retired, it's good to slow down some and stop occasionally to see what we can find along the way. See you down the road !!!NJ/NY Highway 209I let Google maps plot a toll free route from Philadelphia towards Maine. It takes me onto highway 209 through New Jersey and New York. It appears to be good roads but is there anything with which to be concerned?? We will be traveling with another RV flat towing a vehicle. The route looks to be scenic. I'm looking for opinions on traffic...hazards...etc. Thanks in advance for any information. :)
