All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Health insurance on the roadYeah know how you feel. My wife & I have always carried health coverage; including 9yrs with UnitedHealthcare after going full-time RVing. Then the ACA starts, so they dropped all policies and pulled out of the entire state(12/31/2014). So for 2015 we get with insurance brokers and shop around to find basically only 1 real carrier option(off exchange) that offered an HSA qualified plan with nationwide coverage at Double the premium$, higher deductible, and lower coverages than we had previously. With no choice we go with that. NOW, we just get a notice in the mail that our 2016 premiums are going up nearly 50% more with even slightly higher mandated deductibles! And we haven't filed nary a health claim(praise God). 'Affordable' Unbelievable... Robert & Shelly Full-timing Class of 2006Re: How Long?Soon to be 9yrs for us! Not stopping yet but we did buy a Lot w/ small home/Casita in Yuma, AZ this past winter ;-)Re: Problems with South Dakota Health Insurance for Full Timer's rubycreekted wrote: JimM68 wrote: My understanding (which could be wrong) is that SD problems are last years problems. Would love to hear some real info. We changed our residence to SD last December. We have been trying to enroll in a Medicare part F Blue cross plan in SD to replace our BC plan in MI we currently have. NO LUCK. We have to either stay with the MI plan or accept a higher cost Humana plan or a AARP plan as BC requires proof of stick and brick residence. We will stay with the Michigan plan another year and see what shakes out. Ted Hi Ted, "No Luck" Did you go thru the Exchange, a Website (ehealthinsurance), an independent Insurance Broker, or what? Did they tell you about the Sticks & Bricks requirement/proof or did you enroll then you were contacted by BCBS? Who do you use for your mail forward address? Lastly, if you already changed your state of residence to SD, how can you keep the MI plan or does state or residence not matter?Re: Problems with South Dakota Health Insurance for Full Timer'sSo what keeps other state insurance companies (ie. TX/FL) from enacting the same 'mailing service as a residence' restrictions!? As some of you may already know United Healthcare GoldenRule is pulling out of South Dakota as of Dec 31, 2014. Been with them for the 8+ years we have been on the road fulltime. Had National coverage and HSA qualified. Now basically no good options, Unbelievable.
