Is it inside or out? I'm only asking because I store my trailer at home and do use the Battery Tender Jr. as well and I don't pull the batteries. To clear things up, I don't use the Battery Tender Jr. while the trailer is plugged into power and I don't use the because it's parked inside. :D Ya I store my TT at a family members ranch property during the offseason and also stored in local storage while in use during the summer months. Wither way the batteries are pulled as I will not leave them outside 24/7 unsecured in either location. Not to worried about the summer in-use months cause they get a full charge and discharge at least once a month .... but while it's stored for 6+ months during fall and winter I pull them and they are left in my garage the entire time. I have been throwing a charge on them every month or two but figured a battery tender would do best for them. And I figured as long as I fully charged them with my portable shumacher charger to full charge then threw on the battery tender it would just keep them "Tended" to for the entire time and help the battery last longer right?Re: Battery Tender Jr. fine to maintain my two 6-Volt batteries?I think I'm just gonna throw a charge or two on them them until they got back in storage again int he fall. But once I do this and these sit for 6 odd months the linked Battery Tender Jr. should be a fine option to throw on a fully charged set of batteries (2-6volts making 1-12volt) and let it sit and maintain my batteries for the entire off-season right?Re: Battery Tender Jr. fine to maintain my two 6-Volt batteries? Can I just throw my Schumacker charger on the batteries every month for a few and be fine? Or is there an advantage to my batteries by having them maintained and fully charged at all times? I keep them stored in the garage and the water is still full and fine after about a dozen discharges and charges last summer / fall. I will be using them again come June / July ... maybe I will hold off and get a battery tender when they go back in storage again in the fall. But is this really needed if I throw a quick charge on them every month???Re: Battery Tender Jr. fine to maintain my two 6-Volt batteries? smkettner wrote: Battery Tender is an excellent brand. However 0.75 amp is a little light for 200+ amp hours of battery. For a few dollars more I recommend the waterproof 5 amp version. Battery Tender 022-0157-1 Waterproof 12 Volt Power Tender Plus OK maybe it is more than a few $$$ :( Ya $55 is Not a "Few" bucks more!!! LOL ... you linked one that is over 3 times the price. This thing is suppose to a Charger along with a tender.... I don't need a charger ... I already have a battery charger of course. I'm just looking to "Maintain" A Fully Charged set of batteries? I am not using this to charge them from 50% to full 200+ amps ... they will already be fully charged with my Shumacker battery charger to full power .... This is just to maintain that ... I would assume this thing can maintain a fully charged battery just fine right??? Am I missing something with a Battery "Tender" ... I thought they we're to maintain the fluctuation in a battery so it will slightly charge it as it gets low then do this again when it loses a little bit of power etc. etc.Re: Battery Tender Jr. fine to maintain my two 6-Volt batteries? westend wrote: These maintainers work well to float charge a battery or two but the battery will still need some higher level charging to keep the electrolyte from stratifying and to stave off sulphation. For a few dollars more, a guy could probably buy a full function charger that would accomplish it all. Agreed with Pianotuna, solar is the best, especially with a temperature compensated controller. What is a full function charger? I have an actual "Battery Charger" ... I just wanted something to maintain them while being stored is all. I will of course throw a full charge on the batteries before the start of the camping season and then do so throughout the summer ... this is more the 6 plus months of them sitting in the corner of my garage is all and I thought this was exactly what that was for ... to keep it "Maintained" till actual use? Is there something different I should be looking at for this function? I have just been throwing a quick charge on them every other months while being stored. Solar does nothing this purpose as they in my garage and not on my rig ... I know solar is best for when they are installed on my trailer for the summer time to maintain and charge. Thanks so much for the info .Battery Tender Jr. fine to maintain my two 6-Volt batteries? So I know I should have done this many months ago when I pulled the batteries off the trailer for storage but haven't Looking for something to maintain these batteries while being stored Is the Battery Tender Jr. 12v a fine option? (I should use the 12-volt maintainer correct? not the 6v since I have them wired to make 1 single 12v) Battery Tender Jr. Thanks so much. :) -ChrisRe: Range Hood and Power/Water Wall Meter just stopped working? westend wrote: Do you have a handheld meter? I sure do (a multimeter correct?) FYI .... Just got back from another trip ... neither worked again when leaving and nothing for the first day ... THEN out of the blue again they both started working!!! WTF??? LOL Not a clue what is going on and why it works sometimes and other times nothing ... just weird.Re: Range Hood and Power/Water Wall Meter just stopped working? westend wrote: This is sounding more like a converter issue. Have you measured the converter output? No I sure haven't (not exactly sure how to do that). Everything else works Perfect ... it's just the meter and range hood lights and fan. This thing is SO weird.Re: Range Hood and Power/Water Wall Meter just stopped working? So weird ... when I went camping the next day after parking all the sudden they both just started working ... then 2 days later .... they stopped again! Something weird is going on here. Also the batteries being hooked up and running like normal did not fix the issue (though it came back for a couple days it just went out on it's own again overnight the last night of camping). Sure wish I knew WTF was going on here.Re: Okay To Leave Batteries Connected While Stored? Thanks so much for all the great replies. I will be disconnecting them when in storage now. I will also be looking into this quick disconnect since my batteries are strapped down and under a front lid cover so it's a pain to connect and reconnect. I have worried about my batteries being just right there in storage but they said they have never had a stolen battery reported ... where I have it stored is really the absolute Best part of town and very secure so most people with a slip or storage locker in there hopefully are not thief's. On a side note a had a thread about 6V batteries x2 and mine I got form Sams are AMAZING ... they lasted a full 4 days and 3 nights and were only down to 12.23V remaining .... thats' with the Heater on 65 every night, fridge running, lights being used on and off throughout the night, water pump used to run through over 3/4 of the water in the holding tank ... I was worried I would need solar or a gen. but really I never camp longer then 4 days 3 nights so I'm good to go with these bad boys. Thanks again for all the great info guys ... I'll be swinging by the storage this weekend to disconnect them.
