We fill one before leaving the house from the ice maker. If we need more we either buy a small bag of ice or fill up some ice trays. We find using some of the very well insulated thermos cups reduces the need for ice, keeping liquor in the reduces the need for ice. The DW keeps a large insulated cup full of Arnold Palmer drink and refills it several times a day. Still has plenty of ice at the end of the day. I drink Scotch neat so no need for ice. We have one of those table top ice makers and found it to be a total PIA, took to much counter space while in use, same for storage when not. So now it’s permanently in storage at home. I tried Ziploc bags with ice made at home, but they are messy and end up breaking when you have to pound them on the floor to break up the ice. I just want to reach in and grab a handful of ice, or bring it out on the counter and get more than a handful. I make iced tea, and the ice tea comes out hot, so I use a lot of ice to cool it down. It's hard to find something that exact size. Any smaller and you waste a lot of precious freezer space.Custom plastic ice box for Dometic freezerHi all! I am looking for the best way to buy or make an ice tray for my Dometic freezer in my RV. It needs to be 10.25" deep, 15.75" wide, and 8" tall. I looked into custom made acrylic boxes, but they are well over $100 for something this small! I thought about making something myself, but not sure how to go about it. I thought of wood, since I do woodworking, but that probably won't work in a wet environment, even with a plastic liner. Any ideas? I would like clear plastic so I can see the ice level. This is just a simple box that fits perfectly in the top 2/3 of the freezer and rests on the bottom shelf. This is just for holding ice made elsewhere. The box would be taken in and out, so it needs to hold a full load of ice while moving it about. I got tired of throwing ice bags in there and cutting the top off to get at the ice cubes. It was messy and often spilled out. Thanks!LinkPro settings for Lithium batteriesI just upgraded from lead-acid to lithium batteries in my RV. I am wondering if anyone can recommend new parameter settings in the Xantrex LinkPro battery monitor for lithium chemistry. Surprisingly, I searched here and Google, and found basically nothing useful... Strange. Thanks!Re: 12 foot awning cover while stored Chris Bryant wrote: Vinyl rain gutter. Wow! Perfect suggestion! Thank you! (I keep forgetting that it connects to the camper at the top and needs a gap there. The gutter would be able snap into place and overlap the top where it connects to camper to keep the sun totally off the awning) Rain would easily drain out.12 foot awning cover while storedI have been looking on the Internet and Amazon for something to cover my recently replaced fabric awning to protect it from UV rays while stored. The best thing seems to be some long plastic pipe split down the middle long-wise, but they want over $100 for that...Just looking for something way cheaper that can be sacrificial for the AZ sun, like some awning fabric that just wraps around it with a zipper or some snaps. I couldn't find anything like that. Any ideas? Thanks! Maybe I just use my old awning fabric, trimmed, and wrap it around?Re: Looking for time/temp display that shows full time Dew Point Rover_Bill wrote: Dew Point temperature (wet-bulb temp) along with the air temperature (dry-bulb temp) is measured by a psychrometer. I'm not aware of any inexpensive devices that contain a psychrometer to display an accurate wet-bulb temp. An accurate Relative Humidity is derived from those wet/dry bulb reading. Many mechanical (analog) and electronic (digital) instruments only give a gross RH approximation. If that RH value is calculated back to a wet-bulb temp from those displays, the margin of error would be +/- 5 degrees (or more). That error makes a dew point temp display grossly inaccurate. Oregon Scientific sells a nice line of home weather instruments. THIS is the one I have in my trailer. How about this one. I don't mind +- 4%.... https://www.homedepot.com/p/Extech-Instruments-Big-Digit-Humidity-Alert-Hygro-Thermometer-445814/203711583?cm_mmc=Shopping%7CG%7CVF%7CD27E%7C27-11_TOOLS_%26_ACCESSORIES%7CNA%7CPLA%7c71700000033101173%7c58700003868916496%7c92700031085777931&gclid=Cj0KCQjwn_LrBRD4ARIsAFEQFKvDGCvQSwWv5Oue4CXuhmQZJ1Bcj6m2ZBZEmmaQlXFDgpgUrJOUz5EaAqLwEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.dsLooking for time/temp display that shows full time Dew PointHas anyone found a fairly cheap time/temp/indoor/outdoor/moon phase type display that shows full time Dew Point temp? I find this to be much more useful than relative humidity. It is a simple calculation based on temp and RH...Re: Air Conditioner in toy hauler keeps drawing more ampsI replaced the (45+5) CAP for about $15. I checked the evaporator and condenser fins and all was very clean. Blowing 60 degree air now, while outside temp is 103 in PHX. Running volts inside the camper while A/C is on full blast are back up to 122 volts, where it should be! Thanks, Guys, as always!!Re: Air Conditioner in toy hauler keeps drawing more ampsWell, I think I found the culprit, a Start/Run Cap over 10 years old. https://photos.google.com/album/AF1QipMco9_SO150ddEYmeSp06Yy0FVbJ1f14Y5E7vDz Ugh! I hate how you have to post photos here!!! Why can't you just copy and paste!!Re: Air Conditioner in toy hauler keeps drawing more amps SidecarFlip wrote: Just BEFORE you stick your fingers in there... short across the can lugs to be sure the can is totally discharged.... But then I assume you already know that.. They don't all have dropping resistors. Heehee, I learned that at 5 years old. I was born with a soldering iron in my hands! At four years old, I grabbed the hot end in my dad's garage, and after that, I was expert with it, lol. As an aerospace test engineer, I know about large CAPS storing HIGH voltage for minutes, or even hours!
