The get used under the tires and jacks when a 2x8 is too thick.Re: Side with most windows? Not searching for a 5th wheel, but Class A, and window placement is Most Important to me. I want a view out on My patio, not the hookups or a neighbor's patio, but my own. So many Class A's seem to have kitchens on curb side and views out the back side (other than from cab area). I just can't imagine buying an RV that doesn't look out on your own patio. 2010 F150 w/5.4 2011 JayFlight 24RKS TT Our 2007 Itasca Horizon 40FD has 3 large vertical windows on the curb side mid-ships. Long window above the couch on the street side, plus an array if curb side windows in the slides themselves. That and maple real wood makes the interior bright. %r we just bought has lots of curb side windows, a requirement for us.Re: Propane Tank DoorThere were recent state and federal regulations dealing with filling propane cylinders and many places are shying away from anything not exactly following the book. That includes checking cylinder manufacturer date code. I think they shortened the 10 year time frames to 8 years before it needs to be re-certified.Re: Dual rear wheel or single rear wheel? My 2011 Raptor 35.5' and 15.5K gvw was towed bu=y a 12 Ram CC, LB, 4WD diesel dually. You obviously don't go some places like parking garages but it's not a PIA to drive in town once you get used to size, weight and turn radius. For the few times you Im might not like it as a daily driver, you will 100% of the time enjoy it's towing capabilities. I sometimes towed 2 full sized Harley Davidson motorcycles in the back so I was at the 2500 garage capacity.Re: towing mileage of trucksIf a person is using the onboard fuel calculations to use for quoting fuel economy then they are delusional and kidding themselves. Not sure about other brands, but Ford wildly inflates the readings for MPG in the computer. My last 150 and current 250 both would show 21-23 driving flat ground, not towing, and an amount of fuel used. Bottom line it's off by about 10%. If the computer says I have used 18 gallons, it takes around 20 to fill. Haven't towed with the 250 yet enough to see what figures it tries to BS me with but I expect the 10% or worse reality. Miles recorded by a reliable GPS, vehicle odometers are also unreliable, vs actual gallons used is the only way to check. Several fillups are required for any real time usable information. On my previous Ram 3500 CC 4WD dually towing a 15K toy hauler I would get around 8+-. One time in west TX with a 30 mph tailwind I got around 12. So I guess in the BS world I can say I got 12.Re: LevelingConsider that extending the slides when not level you will have some frame flexing and will be attempting to move a square box (slide) out of a potentially not square opening (trailer) and can have binding and possibly dislodge slide seals. Personally I would always level first.Re: Bunkhouse 5th wheels...suggestionsWe recently bought a 2012 Prime Time Crusader 355BHQ with the rear bunk room. It's 39' and GVWR of 13.7K+-. The more recent models are a 360 or maybe 370 about 40+'. Pretty decent build quality and 4 slides for these versions. Bath and half with 2 doors.Re: Ref working without batteriesOn propane the refer still needs 12vdc.Re: Truck stopThere are a number of free over night stays available. An app allstays is one source. I generally don't like the truck stops because of the tight conditions and noise. I have stayed in a number of rest areas with no problem. Seems those in the souther tier of states SE especially, are more receptive. North east and west coast can be hostile to that. Walmart is a good place BUT check ahead and as stated, park where they ask. Don't camp out with grills, lawn chairs, etc. When you leave clean up as though no one was there. I will put slides out since some might be needed to access parts of the vehicle. If at a Walmart, go shopping. A nice rotisserie chicken saves cooking anyway. Don't do as I saw in Meridian MS last summer. 3 Rv's, 2 motorhomes and a 5th wheel, circled the wagons, set out all their gear, took up a huge portion of the parking lot and made a bad statement about RVers. Be courteous and make a small statement. The camping opportunity you save might be yours the next time through.Re: Replacement TiresI assume you are trading it in. If so why not contact the accepting dealer and see if they will reimburse you for putting good rubber on.
