He likes to boondock quite a bit and runs his concentrator and home fill off of his Honda 2000i. This allows him the freedom to be away delivery options, etc., while allowing him the freedom to move about the campsite and day trips away from the concentrator. He talked quite a bit about it and was pretty happy with the setup.Re: Propane..unlawful to have fridge on...is incorrect...A couple of long tunnels (Baltimore Harbor, Chesapeake Bay, Eisenhower)and ferries are the only restrictions that I am aware of for having the tank valves open in the US. As above, plenty of commercial use along with good safety devices (OPD and high flow shut off) to stay safe.Re: Our under installation solar system for our Montana djgodden wrote: I haven't considered what load this system will be sustaining, I've simply done a bit of research (enough to be dangerous) and selected what I can afford thinking ahead to expansion. It may be much larger than my current needs but thought I'd post it to see what comments or suggestions ya'll would offer. 4 Renogy 12v 100 watt Monocrytalline panels into a Renogy Tracer 4210 40 Amp MPPT Charge Controller charging 4 Trojan T105?RE 225 Ah, 6v deep cycle batteries connected in series to produce 12v which are further connected to a Go Power GP-SW1500-12 1500-Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter. As well as a remote Renogy MT-5 monitor. I have to sit down and calculate amp hours to determine how long this would run my air conditioner. More out of curiosity than intending to run it. Have the Renogy panels, MPPT and monitor like you, but am using Costco GC2 batteries and a Samlex inverter. Panels are wired series/parallel as are the batteries. Just for kicks, I plugged in a 5200btu window AC and ran it for a couple of hours with direct, overhead bright sunshine. After two hours, I had a 8% net battery bank loss per the Trimetric battery monitor. I am not able to remember if I had the AC set to high or low cool, but it was sitting outside, in the shade and did not cycle off. An option, but only in full, overhead sun for a short period.Re: Atwood 8535 III furnace problem? What fault code do you get from the light on the circuit board? If the ignitor has a strong, consistent, steady spark (weak may sound ok, but there is a difference). Had that problem on my smaller RV. The ignitor tips may appear fine, but the resistance is within. On the PM, the 8940's blower wheel tossed blades twice. Apparently struck the limit switch one time. Sometimes the furnace would run, sometimes not requiring a reset. Replaced the limit switch (relatively inexpensive) and no more problems.Re: Is it just me? brirene wrote: Little red caps works very well. I've had an open tube of Dicor for several years which is still soft and useable. Rolls down over the end of the tube, reminiscent of a similar product for another purpose. :) Ditto! Plus, they are reusable unlike the other reminiscent item. :)Re: April 2016 - Port Townsend or Port Angeles, WA Bigdog wrote: MT Pokets wrote: The Salt Creek WA Campground in Port Angeles was one of my favorite CGs ever! The view of the straights is awesome - you look across toward Canada - freighters and boats of every size glide below you. It's a county park CG. The reservation system was strange though. You have to make reservations by mail, so you really have to plan in advance. I had to walk to the top of the hill to get Verizon reception. It was worth it. Close by is Olympic NP. Thye only problems with Salt Creek, besides it's being an awesome view, are that it is extremely popular and is kinda out of the way for most exploring. Other than that, you can now make reservations online and there is a place that you can make calls from down by the lower steps to the beach. There is a handlettered sign on the fence. The closest tower is on Vancouver Island and it doesn't tell you that you are international roaming till you get your bill. Verizon credited my entire charge from the Canadian company. You have to be careful along the entire north Olympic Peninsula coast. Very easy for your phone to flip over to a Canadian provider and if your data is turned on, you could run up some heavy charges Even north of Sequim, overlooking the Dungeness Spit, our AT&T phones switched over (with a text advising us).Re: April 2016 - Port Townsend or Port Angeles, WA 2gypsies wrote: Fort Worden State Park at Port Townsend is very nice as is the town. I'd take it over Port Angeles. However, April can be iffy - weatherwise. Ft Worden is now concession run and is pushing $40 per night. If you were an Escapee ($40 annual membership), you could possibly stay at Evergreen Coho SKP Park near Chimacum, south of Port Townsend for $140 for a week. 30 amp, tax and Clubhouse Wi-Fi included in the price.Re: Solar paneling or generatorWe mostly dry camp and initially went with the generator (Honda 2000i), but got tired of lugging it around along with the extra gasoline. Installed solar with inverter a few years ago and now leave the generator at home for backup when the power goes out. 400 watts of solar with 440 amps storage and a 1500 watt pure sine wave inverter takes care of all of our needs.Re: Adjustable Water Heater ThermostatI installed the adjustable thermostat on our water heater but still found the water to be too hot. Holding the thermostat body firmly, I forced the set screw counter-clockwise and was able to get the thermostat down to about 105 degrees. We are able to take a shower with minimal or no use of cold water. We dry camp mostly and are in a water saving mode, so do not want the unlimited shower (at least in the camper).Re: finding laundromats?Bing has worked for us when we searched for them.
