I have the same problem. I chose not to repair because it's not hurting anything. It was leaking at the front cap so I eternabonded it to death and inspect every now and then. It doesn't leak anymore. I talked to a couple trailer repair shops and insurance wont cover it unless you actually hit something like a low hanging limb. I took that stupid rack off as well. No one I have ever asked knows why it's up there. Let us know how your repair goes. If you google there tons of stuff online about this.191Views0likes0CommentsRe: Stripped bolt on Reese WDH
I called Reese and they were "Out of stock until next month" on the parts so I ordered 1/2" x 13 x 1.5" grade-8 bolts and lock washers from Boltdepot, and the rivnuts from Etrailer. Had to buy an 11/16" bit as well. It was a very easy fix and I even drilled the bolts for safety wire just for fun. PIC503Views0likes0CommentsRe: Stripped bolt on Reese WDH
Found some interesting info. Looks like now Reese includes the riv-nuts and 4 1.5" bolts. According to E-trailer, the self tapping are only for use on round frames, and you must use the riv-nuts on normal walled frames. Reese instructions E-trailer Q & A I think there's plenty of material there to hog out to 11/16", I'm going to call Reese to see what they can do for me as far as hooking me up with this stuff as it should have been included all along.
