I tow a 31ft Jayco Eagle that weights in at 10,500 with no issues. Towed to Fl. return 3 times so far. No control issues, 11 mpg. Cruise at 60 mph.Re: how much weight do you tow with 1/2 ton gm 5.3lI have a 2014 Silverado with the 5.3L a 3.73 rear end and the heavy duty tow package. Just returned from 3 months in Florida with my 10,500lb 5ver. No issues, cruised at 60mph with average mileage of between 6 and 10. Used tow mode all the times which kept the tranny quiet. A happy camperRe: Help from GMC/Chevy 1500 6.2L owners with NHT package.I had a 2004 D/Max 2500 to tow my 31ft 10,500lb 5ver. And it did a good job for the past 10 years. I decided to trade last year and after lot's of indecision decided to buy a 14 Silverado with the tow pkg. rated at 11k lbs. This truck has a 5.3 and tows my trailer almost as easy as the 2500. Mileage is about the same with the only noticeable difference being the long hills. The torque of a diesel is hard to beat. I drove to Florida return this year and never felt our of control or underpowered, set the cruise for 63 mph and smooth sailing. Quite a fuel price saving with gas vs diesel.RV Friendly Hotel/Motels I-65Hi , I'm leaving for Navarre Fl. and plan to go west at Nashville onto I-65 and then to Montgomery, Birmingham Alabama. Does anyone know of a RV friendly Motel that we park a 32' 5ver in. along the way? This is our first trip on this route. We usually travel -75 and over the years have found by trial and error hotels with big parking lots. And they have been our destination spots as we travel. ThanksRe: route around atlantaI.ve travelled thru Atlanta many times. The trick is to be there on the weekend. Take I-75 thru the middle. It's well signed and saves a lot of time. If you are confident with your driving skills, don't worry, no worse then any other major city.Re: What did your previous vehicle cost you?I just traded in my 2004 Dmax/Allison on a Silverado with the tow package. I kept every bill from new. It kinda gave me justice to pull the trigger. Including oil changes, tires, everything $14,980.00 Always dealer serviced. The truck had 249k/kmsI-75 South with a by-pass of the hills in TeneseeI'm going to Florida in January from Ontario and we would like to go further west of I-75 once we get to Kentucky/Tennessee. I would rather not drive through the mountains and think that if I go west the ground will flatten out and then I would like to return to I-75 in Georgia at some point. Just wonder if anyone has made the trek that way. Time is not important.Re: 1/2 ton trucks?I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 with Max Towing and it tows a 10500lb 5er with ease. And gets 24 miles/gallon on a grocery run. Best of Both worldsRe: whining noise on 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HDI have the same issue. I started hearing the whine this winter for the first time. Seems to come from the transmission as I can make it increase with added gas pedal. Took it to my GM dealer (a good one) and was told it's just the cold. This winter being so much colder then any previous, it probably never happened before. 2004 Dmax/Allison 250k/kmsRe: Fresh water overflow during towI had the same problem with my Jayco Eagle. My low tech answer was to bend the plastic overflow pipe in half and tie off with a wire holder
