I have a '14 GMC with a 5.4 engine and 3.55 rear end. It gives a tow weight of 9,700 lbs. I pull an 30' 2011 Flaggstaff 5th wheel with a weight just under 7,000 lbs. I've gone from Cape Cod to St. Augustine, New Orleans, up through Kansas, and return to Cape Cod for 5 years. I've had no problems whatsoever over 3 - 4 months of travel in the last 5 yrs. We travel from Cape Cod to Fredericksburg VA (usually on Jan 1) our first day headed south and hit DC around noon - 1 pm. The only place we hit stop and go traffic is from DC to Fredericksburg. If any way possible, get Gettysburg into your plans. Start with the Visitors' Center; take a guided bus tour; then double back with the self-guided auto tour. For a different perspective read "When the Smoke Cleared at Gettysburg," which relates the inhabitants' experiences before, during, and after the battle. Awesome place to visit. I can tell you from past experience North Beach Camp Resort in St Augustine has plenty of space in Jan and Feb, but it fills up in March...not sure about Nov/Dec Our first year ('06) we spent a week at a time in 12 different places and had no trouble getting those one-week reservations.
