It's necessary for medical reasons so no, I can't buy one pre-made :-) I'm trying to figure out placement of my water tanks. Two questions: 1) Where should the most weight be placed-- in the front of the trailer or over the axles? Advice for trailers generally seems to be that the most weight should be placed in front of the axles. But I've come across a few people in forums who say goosenecks are different and the most weight should be placed directly over the axles. 2) How important is it to have the weight distributed evenly side to side? It would be ideal to have my tanks on the left side in terms of the floor plan I've gotten worked out. Will this be ok or will it make my life hell when towing? Thank you for any input!!Re: 16 foot vs 18 foot fifth wheel trailer?Yes, clarification: it is just me. No pets or other people :-) And re: availability: I'm getting it custom made for health reasons, so that's not a problem.16 foot vs 18 foot fifth wheel trailer?New RV'er in need of advice. I'm trying to decide between a 16 foot and an 18 foot fifth wheel trailer (technically it's actually a gooseneck). I'm going to be RV'ing full time in it and would like it to be compact enough that I'll be able to stay at most campgrounds, not just RV parks. My tow vehicle is a 22 foot long Ford F350 crew cab long bed truck. I've read that some campgrounds have 40 foot limits for tow vehicle length + RV, so the 16 footer would be the safer bet there. With the 18 footer the RV would have to be basically hitting the truck to get it to fit under 40 feet. On the other hand, I don't want to skimp on space since this is going to be my home full time. Any thoughts and wisdom on this decision?Re: Which side to put awning and door of TT?Thank you so much, all! I'll definitely be putting the door and awning, curbside thank to your advice :-)Re: Which side to put awning and door of TT?Oops, yes, thank you-- curb and street side what I meant. You can tell I'm a newbie :P Okay, so most campgrounds are set up for the awning and door to be on the curb side, then? I'm doing a custom trailer due to health reasons. I have a severe mold allergy, and most trailers are made with wood and other porous materials that can mold with enough dampness or condensation. So I'm getting a trailer made with nothing but aluminum.Which side to put awning and door of TT?Hi all. Need advice. I'm designing a custom trailer, and trying to decide which side to put the door and the awning. I'm new to RVing so I don't know if there is a benefit to one side versus the other, right or left. In your experience, is either side preferable? Thanks for any input!!
