We just got back from a week stay in it. There have been a lot of little annoying quality/workmanship issues with this trailer. Nothing that's a deal breaker but you get what you pay for. This is a "bottom feeder" and you get everything that goes with it. These trailers (almost all of them) are just slapped together with cheapest materials and a bunch of staples. Coming from a Casita, I found the lack of attention to details annoying. I really like the layout for the most part. We really wanted something small and with a back window. It fills that bill. I have spent probably 20 hours fixing little issues. After a week in it the only real problem I can't fix concerns the Dometic fridge that sounds like there is a bird stuck in it. I has a constant chirping sound that just about drove me out of the trailer a few times. Tires that came on the trailer were absolute junk and I replaced the day after I bought it. Tows well, I have a 3/4 ton truck with a cummins so towing is a non event. It cruises in OD and never even down shifts on the hills in the Texas Hill Country. We also looked at a Creekside trailer with the same layout and it was WAY better built trailer but the closest one was 1000 miles from here and a lot more expensive. Again you get what you pay for. If you want details, send me a PM.Kingsport trailers? We have a Casita but want something just a little larger. I'm looking at a Kingsport 20QBG. I have not noticed this brand before and just wondering if there are any horror stories on the brand? Seems like a very average small stick built trailer which is all I really need. My main requirement was a rear dinette configuration and we like the really large rear windows in this model. More room than the Casita but not built nearly as well. Some trade off for sure.Re: TT Gas MilageI have never gotten less than 20mpg on a trip. The Casita has rounded corners, less frontal area to start with and I'm pulling it with a pre smog gadget diesel. I hope to keep this combo for a long time! (-:}Re: What Portable Grill Do You Use ?I use a Volcano. I like the option to use gas or coals and it fits the dutch oven.. Fairly compact too.Re: Tow vehicle and everyday driveability questionI'd add E rated tires and maybe some air bags to help the current trucks stability. May help a lot.Re: The elusive 10 mpg. jerem0621 wrote: My Dad has a 13k fiver and pulls with a 03 Cummins Ram. He gets 11-14 pulling depending on the terrain and conditions. Thanks! Jeremiah The 03 was the most economical of all the Dodge/Cummins, SO even more so.Re: Sway problem need helpMight consider using E rated truck tires on the trailer. They will have way less sidewall flex than anything else you can use. If you're using trailer tires, that could be an issue. Of course, more tongue weight is always a good thing if the TV can handle the load. Air bags on the TV can help stiffen the suspension there too. Since this was "engineered" I am assuming the frame was determined to be able to handle the load.. If I were doing this, I'd have extended the tongue and made room for the harley up front. Then I'd have added the air bags and E rated tires to both TV and trailer. Or better yet, just get one of these.. http://www.discountramps.com/swivel-wheel-trailer.htmRe: AWD Astro vanLot more miles on the van now. Just started a total redo of the interior. I was wanting to keep it as much a passanger van as a camper but after two years and never hauling people in it, it's going to be more camper friendly. After taking all the seats out, there is a little more room inside. I might even be able to convince my wife to try a weekend in it when I get done. I think my useable interior space is much the same as a tear drop trailer so I've been studying on how they have been laid out. I might even be able to work in a portable AC of some sort. That sure would extend my comfort range.. Oliver Lee SP outside of Alamogordo Re: Trying to decide on a TT or 5er.It's a difficult choice for sure. I had a 5th wheel. Had to get a sliding hitch and added a air ride pin box to stop the chucking. Also had to add air bags to the truck. Initial cost was much higher. Towed beautifully, took some trial and error to learn to back it up (much different than a bumper pull. Hated loosing the bed of my truck Was pretty tall and had to be more careful about clearances. Went to a smaller (much smaller) TT and I really liked getting my truck bed back but sure do miss the extra room. It would be a really tough choice if I was going to back to another bigger trailer. In the end I'd probably suffer the towing difference of the bumper pull so could have the truck bed back for junk.Re: Bf Goodrich AT KO questionsI have them on an AWD Astro van (225/75/16 E) and like them for their intended purpose. I drive a lot of rock and gravel and these have 3 ply sidewalls that just survive better down here. I've driven them in light snow a few times and had no issues. I've heard they don't do well on ice. Stiffer sidewalls make for a noticeable stiffer ride. It's a tough heavy tire and rides accordingly (heavy is why they hold up better). I doubt I'd buy them for just "snow" tires. Too many better options. If I hadn't had problems with side wall punctures I'd probably not have gone with these. They make this tire in a D rated 14" I'd sure consider for my next 14" trailer tires.. (-:} No, I did not read all the replies. Hope you enjoy yours. They can really take some abuse and for me, that's worth some trade off.
