All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Leaf Spring FailureThis update is a few months late, but still wanted to share: The clamps held and nothing slipped on our travels home. We upgraded to a heavier load swing on all 4, from 1750 lbs to 2400 lbs. We have towed quite a bit since then. Thanks for the feedback when we were down.Re: Leaf Spring FailureYes, one leaf in the pack was slipping. A steel hose clamp is something easily accessible to me at the hardware store and about the extent of my mechanical abilities. I would not expect to be able to crank down on the bolts, as I know the guy mentioned using loctite on the connections. Not sure whether that is good or bad. We were stranded and he got us back on the road, so for the service, we are grateful!Leaf Spring FailureWe had a rear axle passanger side leaf spring fail a few days ago on our TT enroute. Fortunately, we had pulled over for lunch and noticed a lean to the TT. There was no other damage. The mobile tech assumed it failed when we stopped. A repair was made with used parts, as nothing could be sourced locally for a few days. After traveling an additional 400 miles to our destination, I noticed the repaired leaf "slipping" slightly to the inside, about 3/4 inch. I was able to tap it back in place with a hammer. We have an 800 mile ride home. I am slightly concerned with the leaf movement. Of course I will keep an eye on it. Any thoughts and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Can an additional schackle bolt be adhered to minimize that movement? My outreach to the mobile tech has received no response. At Myrtle Beach now, back to Buffalo on Sunday. Thank you.Re: Dinette Bike StorageThank you for the direction regarding searching for a particular topic. That is very helpful, as it was my first need to find a specific thread. With regard to all of the other issues, transport was indeed our only concern. (If a thief should want my wife's 25 year old Huffy, that would likely be her only motivation for something new - then she wouldn't want to leave a new bike outside!) Thanks for the help.Re: Dinette Bike StorageThat is exactly what I was looking for (but unable to find in my search?). Thank you for sharing!Dinette Bike StorageGood day. We have been towing more often with our SUV to permit friends and family to join in. Doing so, has meant no bikes. We are looking for an inexpensive way to safely transport 4 bikes on the dinette of our Jayco 26BHS. We do not have a receiver mounted on the TT and do not have a TT rated bike rack. I recall reading about some options in the past to use the dinette with wheel/fork mounts, but my search keeps coming up empty. If you have done that or have see anything posted lately, I would be grateful for a response. Thank you.Propane PigtailsGood evening, I have a 2015 Jayco 26BHS. A smell and soap test reveals leaking propane at each pigtail connection to the dual propane cylinders. The regulator is a Cavonga Group Double Stage Low Pressure Automatic Changeover Regulator. The factory line is Cavanga flexible hose with Back Check Max WP 350PSI Cat #2 18CE. Considering they have both failed, looking at an alternative replacement to that model is what I have in mind. Assistance and guidance is needed in purchasing replacements. The current connector is not inverted. The opening at the end of the pigtail measures at 6/32 of an inch. A brass circumference of about 2/32 of an inch runs around the opening. This appears to be less than the visuals I am getting from the replacements that I am looking at. The holes seem wider. Inside of the regulator itself, there also appears to be a smaller opening that lines with the smaller opening on the hose. I was looking at options on Amazon; however, wasn't sure if there were negative implications of having a wider opening on the pigtail than the accepting opening on the regulator. I would appreciate any thoughts and direction. Heading out Friday morning, and didn't know I had an issue until just now. Thanks!Water refill when dry campingWe are finding ourselves camping without water hookups often due to the increase in camping families in our area. After an initial fill at the potable water spigot, we have been "topping off" the freshwater tanks by using 6-gallon potable water jugs and a funnel system. These water jugs are heavy and the funnel-holder member of the family is often getting wet due to splashes. Any suggestions for pumping water from our 6-gallon potable water storage containers into the freshwater holding tank of our RV, as opposed to just dumping it in the traditional way we have? Looked online for liquid transfer system, but finding mostly things rated for automotive fluid transfer and not potable water. Thanks for any suggestions.Bicycle TransportWe are doing more towing with our Expedition, and less with the F150. Wondering if anyone had any ideas for bike transport inside the RV. We do not have a reinforced bumper, and would be reluctant to do a bumper tow. I also don't want to put additional weight on the rear end by using a trailer frame mount over the propane tanks. And getting bikes to the roof of the Expedition seems as if it would be a daunting task. I have heard of some mods where bikes are secured to the dining benches. Wondering if anyone has had any success in that capacity and would be willing to share any information.Zoo AtlantaGood day. We would like to visit the Atlanta Zoo as we pass through the area in April with our RV in tow. We called the Zoo today, and they told us that there is an area for bus parking, but it is not permissible for RVs to use that lot. The suggestion was that we seek on-street parking; however, those of us who tow regularly know that taking a chance on navigating a residential neighborhood is challenging enough, but trying to find some type of on-street parking would be impossible. I am also thinking of low-hanging tree branches and other challenges. Has anyone visited the Zoo in Atlanta with an RV in tow? My family would be most grateful if you could please share with us what you did about parking.
