This one smells fishy.Re: Independent slide controls wilber1 wrote: Our Grand Design Reflection 303 has independent switches for the three slides and you can access the fridge, sink, one counter top and some cupboards without opening any slides. Not the pantry though. That was a big consideration for us as well when buying. I'll make sure and check out your unit at the Pomona show in October!Re: Independent slide controls ESVA Travelers wrote: We have a Cedar Creek 36CKTS with 3 hydraulic slides. Although there is a single switch to open/close the slides, you can also select to open/leave closed one or more of the slides. I haven't personally done this, but it can't be difficult to access and operate or my husband would have complained about it. It has been no big deal when we have wanted to open a slide to access a closet or certain cabinets. That said, having access to the refrigerator and bathroom without having to move a slide makes a pit stop to use the bathroom or grab a drink from the fridge a lot easier and quicker. Exactly!!! The bathroom/bedroom is accessible, the fridge is not. Not a deal breaker, but definitely part of the conversation. We're going to the Pomona show in October and will continue our search. Really like the Alpine 3100RL though. Hoping to pull the trigger on a new unit this spring!Re: Independent slide controls newman fulltimer wrote: You need to get a floorplan that will allow you to access the kitchen with the slides in if this is your concern Easier said than done. Not many of those out there. We've been looking!Re: Independent slide controlsWe really like the Alpine and yes, it has hydraulic slides.Independent slide controlsWe currently have a Class C with a single slide. Looking to move over to a 5th wheel with multiple slides. It seems that many of the units are a single switch for all slides (vs each slide operating independently). When I questioned it, the sales rep said that you can disconnect (?) the connections to put only one out a time if needed. Could you chime in on this and give me a better explanation of the concept? Do any of you do this? My concern was being able to open up the kitchen slide slightly at rest stops to allow access to the refer without opening up the entire unit or even opening only one side in a tight campground. Thanks!Re: Am I getting a good deal? avvidclif1 wrote: My thoughts, go into your house and turn the couch and easy chairs at a 90 deg angle to the tv and watch it like that for a week. For us any rv with a TV not directly facing the primary living room seating was a deal breaker. Absolutely! Walked in and out of many units because of the angle of the TV.Re: Selling a rig your upside down onWell, I have to say that IMO, most of the comments here did not address the original question. Before I can reply directly to the question, I would have to know the general circumstances of the sale. Are you leaving the RV life? Looking to upgrade? Looking to downsize? Where are you getting your current valuation? A dealer or NADA guides? If you don't mind sharing some of the above, maybe some of us could give you more direct advice. Now, for those of you who can only espouse the joys of all cash purchases, understand that many of us could never experience the joys of RV life if we waited for that to happen. Children (sports, band, college) and life sometimes interfere with the opportunity to save to that extent. I'd rather budget in the rv payment and let my family experience nature and quality family time. We made a conscious decision to purchase when we did rather than wait 10 years, then look back and think about the fun we had lost out on over those lost 10 years. Personal decision.Re: Auto Leveling lpxguy wrote: I had a little trouble learning how to operate the 4 pt system on our 5er, but after using it for a while I would not buy another without it. I really like having the option to manually tweak it to direct the a/c drain water where I want it to go. Saves a lot of setup time, does it's own thing while I'm doing mine. If I need to fine tune it I can. Maybe you should rethink the max length...could open up a larger selection for only a couple feet. If I were shopping for another 5er I would not go shorter than what we have (38') Perfect for our family of 4. Our retirement goal is to spend about 3 months of the year touring the US with short weekend trips in between. We currently have a 31 ft Class C, but no tow vehicle. Economically it seems to make sense for us to go with a fiver since it's time for me to replace my current pickup instead of a new pick up AND a tow vehicle. For travel purposes, I think shorter is better.Re: Auto LevelingA little birdwalk.....I notice many of you posting are Cedar Creek owners. Can I take this as a personal reference? As I said, we are still shopping. Trying to stay under 35 ft with rear living. All comments welcome.
