There are state parks around the area but you are limited to a 2 week stay plus most of them lock their gates at night, as in totally locked in/out. Several of the trailer parks list as having sites available for RVs but most of the trailer parks down here are a little sketch. Nutbush at Kerr lake is 24 hour access and Rolling View at Falls Lake was trying 24 hour access for a bit, not sure if they still are.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Peaches looks like she has the head of a terrier stuck on a Blue Heeler body. No wonder she and Suzie get along smashingly, I have never know a terrier that was NOT an imp. When Bruno came to live with us my husband's ex has pretty much done the same with him. On weekends she sometimes would leave him locked in the basement with a bag of food and a large dish of water. Needless to say, when we kidnapped him he was grossly overweight and had issues with his legs and hips. We put him on the Quincy Quick Weight Loss Program and within a month he had lost 15 lbs. It was great to see this 130 lb monster lying on his back and Quincy bounding off his stomach (Bruno was a black lab/newf mix, Quinn is a 14 lb jack). Even though he was only with us a short time, his last days were filled with love.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Charlie looks like he had the time of his life camping! I hope the scan does not turn up anything but I understand the need to do it.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Just a Dog is now up in my office with pictures of Chloe and Quincy.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}What a sweetie. Here in Cleveland we have a rescue that is devoted just to senior dogs. Unfortunately as soon as they start getting older and develop illnesses many people just get rid of them. You have to give the previous owner credit at least in taking him to the shelter and not just dumping him on the streets. You do not know the whole story. Maybe he lost his job, maybe he is ill himslef and knows that he can no longer give Charlie the love and attention that he needs. It looks like the old boy knew exactly who to charm.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}I have been sifting slowly through the posts. On my way home from camping yesterday I got "the call" about Fella. I am at a loss for words. Like so many others here I feel as though I lost my own. It has been a sad day....Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Dan, I sure do hope you are getting lots of pictures! That is if Anna has not chewed the digital up again....Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Taken from the Rally Thread.... Dandy Dan wrote: It was kind of neat. I was getting things set up and Richard and Sue walked over and we said our Hi's. It took Anna a little to remember Richard and Sue but when she did Boy did the tail start to wind off the body. Was a very good re-meet. In regards to Suzie, I don' think she remembered as well as Anna did. It seemed a little cold until she started to remember the bouncing paws coming at her and then the tail started to wag a bit and then it was a two way street on the jumping at each other a bit. We have not had them in the play area off leash yet. Will be doing that probably today. Also Anna has not been re-united with Old Fella and Levi yet. As Richard said it is HOT HOT!!Thank goodness for AC. The campground hosts are really nice and friendly. She came out of the office to greet us on arrival and we were also greeted by 5 Corgi's. Sure is a dog friendly place and wooded with shade. Will fill you in later with more. Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story} Dixie Flyer wrote: Suzie didn't want anything to do with Anna!!! Anna recognized us right away and also recognized Suzie and wanted to play, I don't understand Suzie's actions. 1. She is no longer part of the pack. 2. Suzie has gained a better position in the pack since Anna left and does not want to give that back up. 3. Suzie is upset that she left and is giving her grief over it.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Some pictures to share of my meeting the beautiful Southern Belle, Anna. And yes, that is a smile on her face!
