Use ONLY a plastic tool on the roof membrane and do NOT poke any holes in the roof trying to get at caulk that is not hanging loose. I would then gently scrub with a soft bristle brush the roof with SPic and Span liquid cleaner and rinse off throughly. I would then get wither 2", 3" or 4" wide Eternabond tape (from Amazon) after doing some measuring and estimating what you might need. I have used Eternabond tape as a preventive measure on all seems, including the roof edges (front, back and sides) where the roof ends and meets the trim, or side gutters or any other vent. There are numerous youtube videos on how to apply Eternabond tape. Use a small amount of Mineral Spirits on a cloth and rub off any dirt/deposits on the roof where you will be applying tape. DO NOT use in excess as the roof will stretch. IMMEDIATELY wipe with generous amount of rubbing alcohol on another cloth and let dry for a few minutes. The Mineral Spirits will take up dirt that cannot be touched by any other cleaner, but must be removed quickly with the rubbing alcohol to prevent roof damage. Do small sections at a time. Apply Eternabond over seams and old caulk. Wipe tape outer layer with rubbing alcohol and overlap 1/2" if applying a second strip. This Eternabond should last 10 years or more. Clean and inspect your roof at least every 6 months. I hope this helpsRe: Unknown odor - what is it? where is it?I would get some Febreeze at the grocery store and spray any fabric in the camper. This should neutralize any offensive odor that may be in the fabric left from storage.Re: Aiming Slimline SL3 SWM dishlynndiwagon, Thx so much for your comments I am technical... I have an electronics tech degree from '77. I have worked with computer network and CATV cabling for years. I have aimed my old sat dish in the past. Of course that dish was before the mulit-sat setups using oval dishes. I am planning a 7 different site camping trip this winter in FL. I have downloaded the specs for each campground, and the elev, azimuth and skew is different for each of them. That means I will be moving and reaiming the dish 7 times in 12 weeks. Using the receiver in the camper to aim is just not a good option, when I think I can get something that I can use at the dish to give me immeadiate feedback and hopefully save me many minutes or hours tring to find and peak the correct satelite with this Slimline dish. I don't even think my HR24-500 DTV receiver gives a signal strength bar graph with or without beeps ( I have yet to find a graph in the setup menus). The SWM dish/receiver combo does not even LOCK; from youtube vids they talk about peaking the Quality signal by tweaking the dish, and unlike other dish/sat combos (using the 101 sat ONLY) there is no locked signal at all. After all, there is only like, what, a one degree or less error factor, in these HD dishes and then there could be elevation and skew errors too? Add in the fact that there is 21V LNB feed instead of standard 18V feed... well, I have been looking for answers. With all of the answers so far, I believe I am getting great advice here. HOWEVER ONE more question I would like to hear an answer to: When doing elevation adjustments on the SL3 Slimline dish, is one turn of the fine adjustment too much? Thx to all for your posts and help...Re: Aiming Slimline SL3 SWM dishlynndiwagon, I found that post late last night after my original post here. That soultuion is on my short list... Only hesitancy was lack of positive reviews of that meter, although I liked what I was on the youtube vids. I suspect that yours is still working fine aligning your Slimline dish while on the road. Any quirks or reason to think of a different solution for peaking your dish? Thanks so much for this response. I have a good leveling capable tripod setup. I downloaded the dishpro app to be able to sight through the trees, and that will be invaluable. I have the tools and knowledge to make my own cables. Now I only need a way to peak the signal. I suspect that by next spring I will have it all down to an art form... but the meter is the key for now. RogerRe: Aiming Slimline SL3 SWM dishnomad297... you hit it on the head... just what I have been searching for. Thx so much for that specific information about metering my SWM dish with the 21 V power feed requirement. The closest that I have gotten so far on that type of a hook up to the LNB is on this page, with a picture about 1/3 of the way down. SWM Hookup Please contact me at rsdata AT fuse DOT net with a price for your setup. Thx again.Re: Aiming Slimline SL3 SWM dishThx for the tip Popsie !Re: Aiming Slimline SL3 SWM dishthx so far for the comments, but I am not seeing an answer to my question so let me restate... I am looking for a recommendation for an inexpensive sat peaking meter, something cheaper than a pro model, but also something that will work for my application. I am using an SL3 SWM Slimline dish. this is a single cable that requires a 21 V power insertion module between the receiver and the LNB I have a good tripod and my mast is level and plumb (I got that part). I want to be able to see instant feedback with a meter at the dish without using the TV and receiver to peak the dish signal. I am anticipating a hookup like the diagram below. I use the SWM splitter because the power insertion is 21V and I see that most meters are designated for 13-18 volts. I may try to power the meter with two (V batteries is series. upload pics">diagram here Since I cannot preview if the image will show above, I will just hope it does and post. Thanks again for your reply.Aiming Slimline SL3 SWM dishI took the plunge and will be taking my DTV receiver with me. I purchased a duplicate dish. I have the new dish setup within a few yards of the house mounted dish so I could reference the new with the old. It took me about 3 hours to be able to get a signal with the new dish setup. I finally twisted the dish a tiny amount and the transmission finally popped up on the screen. I was wondering if someone could steer me toward an inexpensive sat signal meter that I could hook up to the SWM splitter. I am hoping that by hooking up the meter I might be able to peak the signal easier by having immeadiate feedback at the dish location. I have read that after doing it 10 times you will be a "pro" at pointing the dish... well... I'm one tenth the way to being a pro!
