While I'd love to let some of our friends use our old camper, the logistics of that are tricky as we normally camp on the beach so a heavy duty 4x4 is needed. In addition our visitors usually come for a night or 2 and not the entire stay so setting up a 2nd camper is really not worth it. The place we usually camp does not allow tents so that's not an option either. Thanks again. BobRe: 2 Bedroom 5th Wheel for Adult VisitorsThanks for all of the input!2 Bedroom 5th Wheel for Adult VisitorsMy wife and I currently have a travel trailer (2005 Jay Flight 31BHS) that has served us well for many years. Our children are now grown and still sometimes camp with us and we also have other friends visit/stay with us fairly regularly so we are in the market for a 5th wheel that can accommodate visiting adults. We try to avoid having folks sleep in the living area as that makes mornings a little awkward when tiptoeing around sleeping guests. One other challenge is that I'm trying to keep GVWR at or around 14k lbs or under and length under 37' or so. We've looked at some mid bunk models that have convertible sofas and have liked some of those (although many are too long and/or heavy) and we've also looked at some rear bunkhouse models which have foldout sofas that look like they could work. Our current favorite is the Grand Design Reflection 311BHS (we'd have to be careful how much we packed because that one could push our top end weight limit). The 2nd 1/2 bath in this model is also appealing for visitors as well. I'd be interested in hearing from others who have overnight adult guests and which floorplans have worked for them. Appreciate any and all input. BobRe: Water Damage RepairJohn Thanks. It is aluminum sided but since it only appears that one stud needs to be fully replaced I’m hoping I can get away with carefully removing rotted stud from inside and then using a little construction adhesive to secure aluminum skin to new stud. The interior paneling in this area needs to be replaced due to water damage as well so I will need to remove and replace. I agree your approach is the most professional way to repairing it and if I find more damage I will likely revert to that. How difficult is it to remove and reinstall the exterior panels? The wiring is all 12 v. In a couple of spots there are multiple strands so you may need to try your multi notch approach. Thanks again for your input! BobRe: Water Damage RepairThanks to all for the input so far. I like the groove the studs idea and the addition of the metal plate is a must as well.Water Damage RepairI went to check on my trailer in storage this weekend and found some water damage in one corner. I found what I believe is the source of the water intrusion and I sealed it up with Dicor. I then ripped away as much of the paneling as required to expose the water damaged area and I tore out the insulation so that I could allow it to dry. It appears that a 2x2 stud in the very corner is totally rotted so I will need to replace that and there are a couple of other portions of studs that are pretty soft that will need to be repaired/sistered. Overall doesn't look too terrible. Since the trailer is almost 14 years old (Jay Flight 31BHS) I am going to see if I can repair it myself along with the assistance of a buddy who does a lot of construction. One thing that looks like it will take a bit of time is that a couple of the studs that will need replacing/repair have wires routed thru holes drilled in them. If I want to replicate that routing I will either need to cut and splice the wiring or try to find where they terminate so that I can pull them back and run them thru holes in the new studs. I'm thinking trying to rerun the wiring might be a little tricky so I wanted to see if anyone had experience dealing with this and what approach they would recommend. Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks. BobRe: JayFlight Slide Won't RetractHere's a picture of the motor/gearbox for reference. Re: JayFlight Slide Won't RetractI don't have underbelly cover on my camper so I can see the entire slide mechanism but I'm just not sure where the shear pin is. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks. BobJayFlight Slide Won't RetractI have a 2005 JayFlight 31BHS and was getting ready to pull out of driveway to go for a weekend trip. Went to close the slide and I initially heard the ratcheting clutch noise I hear when I fully extend the slide and then I just heard the motor spinning. Initially the slide started to move but now it is not moving at all. I tried to manually retract the slide by using a wrench but and the threaded rod turns but doesn't grab. I'm guessing something broke internally that I can't see but I'd welcome any suggestions. Thanks. BobWhich Antenna is On 2015 JayflightsI'm trying to find out what antenna is provided with the new Jayflights. My sister just purchased a new Jayflight and she was able to pick up a lot more stations than I do at that same site with my older Jayflight. I'm thinking it might be a Winegard Sensar IV but I didn't get a good look at it. Appreciate any input. Bob
