Doing some poking around it looks like there are a number of units that catch my eye in the 28-30' range that is right at or just under that 7K#. I don't expect to go much farther than 200-250 miles (Black Hills) from home.. at most maybe a trip or two into northern MN.Re: Help A Newbie! what weight RV's should I be shopping for!? A flat trailer loaded to 10K is much different than a high walled TT. Jerry Thank you all for the information! Very much appreciated!Re: Help A Newbie! what weight RV's should I be shopping for!? fx2tom wrote: What does the yellow sticker say inside your driver door jamb. Should say something like "Weight of cargo and passengers should not exceed ___ lbs". Thanks for the quick responses! yellow sticker says 1486 lbs... I assume that is passengers/cargo and tounge weight total?Help A Newbie! what weight RV's should I be shopping for!?Hello everyone! The wife has pretty much convinced me that we need a camper.... I have read a bunch on-line about figuring out towing weights, but I don't know enough about trucks to be able to figure out how much I can tow safely! I have a 2017 GMC 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with Short Box (GVW 7,200), 5.3L, 8Speed. The sticker says it has the trailering equipment package (RPO Z82), Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control. From the RPO codes, I can tell it has the HD transmission cooler (KNP), HD engine oil cooler (KC4), and High Capacity Air Cleaner (K47). From what I can decipher I am thinking I can tow either 9,100 or 10,700. I understand that doesn't include passengers and cargo... If I subtract like 700# off that is that reasonable for a loaded camper and family of 4? Does that mean I should be looking for a camper that weighs no more than 8,400 or 10,000 respectively? Appreciate any help ya'll can throw my way!
