Re: Traveling with long or short t.t.All I can say is size isn't everything!! We purchased our first TT just about 2 years ago, a 2015 20ft Aspen trail (24ft overall length). No slide outs, fully loaded it weighs in at about 6,600 lbs. It was a little tight until I removed the dinette and installed a 4ft long x 1ft wide custom made Credenza with the table hinge mounted to the side, with a fold out leg that allows the table to be raised and lowered effortlessly in seconds.. the table is about 2 x 3ft and the credenza top is 4 x 1ft (adding 4 square feet of table space. Two reclining office chairs and we now have all the room we need to stretch out, especially eliminating the darn post mounts for the table and space consuming-uncomfortable bench seats. With the table folded down we have floor space to set up an inflatable mattress for guests, which is much more comfortable than that darn dinette bed.. The trailer tows like a dream, is easy to maneuver, has a 50 gal freshwater tank and 30 gal black water and 30 gal grey water tank. We've spent a couple of rainy nights drowning a few ice cubes while happily watching cable and or DVD's. The shower is just big enough for either of us.. The trailer to us is just plain cozy!! I guess it all comes down to what your comfortable with. We have lots of easily accessed storage space and seem to be able to bring everything we need with us. We just pull into the site and crank down the stabilizers. Don't have to worry about slides leaking or malfunctioning or self levelers hanging up.. But that's just us.. We could easily spend a month or two traveling comfortably. To each his own......Re: Assateague State ParkWe spent a few days at Castaways in Berlin, md.. About 4 weeks ago. It had all the amenities and was only a few minutes drive from Assateague state and national parks.. We got to see the ponies, and except for a bit of rain had a great time... Definitely going back again..Re: Traveling with refrigerator on gas???We have a 2016 aspen trail and I'm Sorry I'm not sure what the big deal is.. We plug in the electric power and We put about 10 water bottles in the freezer about 24 hours before we leave.. They freeze overnight and we leave 6 in the freezer and put 4 in the fridge.. It normally takes 2 days for the ones in the fridge to thaw out. keeping the food in the freezer frozen and the stuff in the fridge cold. Why burn the propane unnecessarily. I also feel safer when the propane bottles are turned off while driving down the road. I saw an RV fire on the side of the road about 6 years ago, with the TT completely engulfed in flames.. That's just my 2 cents..Re: How fast do you tow?I actually like to have people pass me.. especially If I'm pushing the speed limit by a few MPH. They go ahead and flush the smokies out of the bushes.. Having said that I have called 911 two times. Once when I observed a guy going south in the northbound lane on the NJ Garden State Pkwy, and another time when someone obviously impaired was weaving across all 4 lanes of the NJ Tpk.. Stay safe and share the road..Re: How fast do you tow?Hi there :) I'm new to this forum and am amazed at the variety of opinions on this thread.. Just bought my TT in November and have spent very little time towing it.. but I think that you have to address each point.. I spend a lot of time on the interstate and surface roads because of my job and tend to have a heavy foot.. So I'd like to address a couple of points: 1) driving faster than the rated speed of your tires is looking for trouble, especially when heavily loaded. 2) move with the traffic if you can but if not, get over to the right. I've seen 2 and 3 mile backups because of people driving significantly slower than the speed limit, sometimes in the left hand lane, frustrating other drivers, who do stupid things !!! 3) make sure you have enough stopping distance. Tail gating is suicidal. Are your brakes in good shape? 4) Try not to ride along-side of cars or 18 wheelers.. giving yourself and the others some room to move if you encounter a pot hole or road hazard. 5) sometimes it just makes sense to slow down. Slick roads, pot holes, high winds, heavy traffic. Why stress yourself out trying to fight the road conditions? I like to drive faster than the speed limit without my TT and was pretty comfortable pulling the unloaded TT home from the dealer at up to 70 in the interstate, but that was on an "open road", Sunny day, slight wind gusts, with TT tires rated at 75 mph.. But I pretty much stayed between 60 and 70 primarily because of the traffic flow.. So I guess that the answer to the question as to "what is a safe speed" is to ask yourself what am I risking driving this way? I couldn't live with myself I my actions caused some one to be injured or even worse, lose their life!! So let your conscience be your guide.. :) You will get there when you get there. That's my 2 cents worth Just remember you don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing!!:BRe: Mice - My observationHad a friend who owned a greenhouse and found that he could control the birds that kept getting inside and the mice by soaking bird seed in ethylene glycol (auto antifreeze) and spreading it around. After 1 week no birds and no mice.. Since I don't want to kill any birds, I'd just gut a hole big enough for a mouse to get into a coffee can and put the lid on after putting a couple of teaspoons full of soaked seeds in there.. They will carry the seeds back to their nest.. We don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing... :)Re: traveling to MaineUpdate on my last route.. I came south on 684 on Tuesday this week and I would keep my speed down. Its a little bumpy with the frost heaves and patches from this winter... All the bestRe: Removing Dinette and putting in REAL furniture! We're looking to do the same thing only leaving table as is and replacing the bench seats with reclining swivel chairs. Thanks to Pulsar for his help in posting the pics...Re: 16-18' Travel Trailer for 4 - WHO Has the BEST FloorplanWe just purchased an Aspen Trail 1900RB.
