Would have preferred a solid axle with coil springs. But understand it freed up significant interior room. Will be surprised if actual production ride-height on the ZR version is that high. Styling, interior, pricing, increased overhangs.... it's almost like someone inside is trying to sabotage every GM project. So much good, and yet...Re: Looking for short toy hauler with slide fj12ryder wrote: I guess that bedroom slide qualifies as a slide, but I thought the OP was talking about a living room area slide. Which was why I was really skeptical about finding one. Yup. Living area slide. Seemed like a good idea. I must be the only one. So what IS the shortest that does that?Re: Has anyone looked at the Jeep Gladiator? FishOnOne wrote: You forgot about the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Cherokee Those are rolling embarrassments as well. The compass is a barely disguised Fiat 500. And the current Cherokee isn't worthy of a name with such a strong history... You need me to rant a bit more? Or are we good?Looking for short toy hauler with slideTitle says most. Looking for more like a 23 foot toy hauler. Length is the key for lots of places we camp. 26 is too long. Weight in unimportant. Any suggestions for something that looks like that. Slide is mandatory. Done with the whole bowling alley feel. :-) Thanks much!Re: Has anyone looked at the Jeep Gladiator?Gladiator: - Should have been called Scrambler - You want solid front axle, it's the only choice. - You want removable top, it's the only choice. - You want to run 35's pretty much stock, it's the only choice. Come on Ford and Chevy, you've got the formula right there, AND the Bronco and Blazer DNA as well. The "Baby Bronco" is an embarrassment, and hardly worthy of the name. The new Blazer? Another Chevy attempt to wh*re out what once was a great brand. FCA is showing there is big market and margin in this category. Make it happen!Re: Too Big/Pricey/Soon for MeI'm down. If I were really going cross country with a big trailer, this is the route I would go. I love the idea of running single rear axle. Maybe even super single tires. Seriously, and several dudes here nailed it. The price gap between a real Class 8 and a diesel pickup is narrowing quick. The only real downer would be what do you do once you drop the trailer off at camp, but that could be managed. We can walk a bit to the taco shop...Re: switch from 265 to 285 tiresBehold: The NorCal mod for Chevy trucks. Shown is on a GMT900, but works on 800s too. https://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/nor-cal-truck/69677-2007-5-2014-nbs-hd-large-fender-mod-step-step-pics.htm The 'Burban runs (and clears) 295/65-18s, which is a 33" tires, with a 1.5" lift in front, and one in back. The mod took one hour on the first side, and about 15 minutes on the second side. BTW, talking about a tires width (265 or 285) without knowing its aspect ratio and wheel diameter, or overall diameter, is a waste of time. Happy cutting and modding to all Chevy owners who check out that link... :-)Re: Chevy 6.0 mileageTypical here. The Big Bad 'Burban, get low double digits around town. And high single digits towing. Its a very adequate tow motor. Ours is still awaiting a blower. Was supposed to be last year, but you all know how that goes... :-)Re: 1/2 or 3/4 Ton? - Trying to decide.Tough one. We have a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton in the driveway now. Similar, but not exactly the same rig. For the 90% of the around town driving we do, the little truck comes out. It just rides and drives so much nicer. Hard to make a bad choice with any of the newer trucks though. :-)Re: Why is it so hard to find a good used Suburban 2500we paid 27k for our loaded 2012 a couple years ago. others were available cheaper, but i paid extra for one that was super clean. plan on keeping it until someone does a new full size suv with solid axles front and rear. which likely means forever....
