Still waiting for 8-lugs. Still loving my 2012 3/4 ton.... Suspicious on the IRS. Would have preferred a solid axle with coil springs. But understand it freed up significant interior room. Will be surprised if actual production ride-height on the ZR version is that high. Styling, interior, pricing, increased overhangs.... it's almost like someone inside is trying to sabotage every GM project. Title says most. Looking for more like a 23 foot toy hauler. Length is the key for lots of places we camp. 26 is too long. Weight in unimportant. Any suggestions for something that looks like that. Gladiator: - Should have been called Scrambler - You want solid front axle, it's the only choice. - You want removable top, it's the only choice. - You want to run 35's pretty much stock, it's the only choice. Come on Ford and Chevy, you've got the formula right there, AND the Bronco and Blazer DNA as well. The "Baby Bronco" is an embarrassment, and hardly worthy of the name. The new Blazer? I'm down. If I were really going cross country with a big trailer, this is the route I would go. I love the idea of running single rear axle. Maybe even super single tires. Seriously, and several dudes here nailed it. The price gap between a real Class 8 and a diesel pickup is narrowing quick. The only real downer would be what do you do once you drop the trailer off at camp, but that could be managed. Behold: The NorCal mod for Chevy trucks. Shown is on a GMT900, but works on 800s too. https://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/nor-cal-truck/69677-2007-5-2014-nbs-hd-large-fender-mod-step-step-pics.htm The 'Burban runs (and clears) 295/65-18s, which is a 33" tires, with a 1.5" lift in front, and one in back. The mod took one hour on the first side, and about 15 minutes on the second side. BTW, talking about a tires width (265 or 285) without knowing its aspect ratio and wheel diameter, or overall diameter, is a waste of time. Tough one. We have a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton in the driveway now. Similar, but not exactly the same rig. For the 90% of the around town driving we do, the little truck comes out. we paid 27k for our loaded 2012 a couple years ago. others were available cheaper, but i paid extra for one that was super clean. plan on keeping it until someone does a new full size suv with solid axles front and rear. which likely means forever....570Views0likes0Comments
