The resort used to be called Rustic Sands and has struggled and changed owners since the hurricane in 2018. It is now called Mexico Beach Rv Resort. I think there is still some construction going on but I’m going to give it a try then on to Dauphin Beach. I drained off some ps fluid and added Lucas (I’m not fond of additives) and hopefully if the leak slows I can make it home where I have the proper tools to change out the pump myself. Not sure if this is correct place to post but am towing thru Florida and have a power steering pump starting to leak on my Dodge Ram. Will be spending 3 days in Mexico Beach, FL and that would be a good time to have it repaired (replaced probably) but being an out of towner I have no clue of a reputable repair shop in the area. I use a Stromberg Carlson trailer tray over the propane tanks and bolted my Champion 3100 inverter generator to it on my Springdale 189. I removed the wheels and used the axle and the front pad mounts as mounting points so it will slow down a thief. At around $180, the tray is kind of expensive for some bent tube and a tray, but it bolts up solidly and works great so I guess its worth it. Strangely, it does not increase the measured tongue weight the full amount of the tray / gen combo; I think it was 85% of the total if I remember. I don't have a front window so it works for me. On a previous trailer (Pioneer 18t6) I welded rails on the frame and mounted on the rear ((not on the bumper, but on rails welded to the frame). I think the total weight was around 160 lbs or so, but it only decreased tongue weight around 40 lbs measured. I was still at around 12% tongue weight when loaded for travel. It was in a lockable aluminum pickup bed box that I modified with a few computer fans and vent doors and ran the exhaust thru the wall to the outside. I also glued ceiling tiles to the inside of the box. It was an open frame gen and with the box closed and the vents open, it was pretty quiet. I eventually updated to an inverter gen and it was almost undetectable then. I have heard that mounting on the back of a trailer will beat the gen to death and throw the tongue weight to an unsafe condition, but neither was the case with my setup. I would recommend measuring the tongue weight after either installation, front or rear, and adjust as necessary. I have an extra five gallons of gas in a gas can, plus various amounts of gas in three other vehicles and a hand pump. If I ended up staying in the drive for a while, I also have the 35 gallons in the truck. Hopefully, it would never come to the point of needing all of that. For water, the trailer just happens to park within 15 feet of my in ground pool and I have a little 110v submersible pump, but I lost about 25% of the water in the 7.1 quake when it sloshed out and flooded my yard. I went back and forth on the propane, but I do have the tanks off. The fridge is cooling on 110, and I figure once any bouncing stops, I could turn it on. Even in the desert heat, I have a few hours of cool to get to the propane. When my wife mentioned how everything was still in place inside the trailer afterward, I told her that the 7.1 quake is just about the same as Interstate 5 through the Valencia and Santa Clarita area at 55mph....Those who drive it will probably agree. Since I am in the heart of the Ridgecrest earthquakes, I have hooked up the trailer to the truck with the equalizer installed and am leaving it hooked up to 110 with the fridge on. The water tank is full and the gen is full of gas. I was going to leave the jack down to relieve pressure on the suspension, but when the 7.1 hit the other nite the trailer was bouncing around quite a bit and slid on the jack(even with the BAL ground chocks installed). I happened to run to the area of the yard where I had sight of it. I know I am in earthquake country so I have always kept a nominal amount of water and gas in the trailer, but in this case I feel a little more prep is needed. The goal of course would be to use the trailer where it is if needed, but there may be a need to move it. With the USGS predictions, if nothing big hits within the next week or so, the chances drop dramatically that it will, so I will unhook next weekend if that is the case. Actually, I have reservations in Mammoth next weekend, but the wife is a little shy of going not only further into quake country, but a geothermal area as well. We will see. The deck mount, in my case would screw to the floor behind the power center (fuse panel) and does not directly wire into the power center, it needs a receptacle to plug into but does feed the 12 volt circuits thru the power center. The Wildkat was going to be an easy installation: it just replaces the inadequate WFCO unit in the bottom of the power center, and the 9260C-14.8 is not much harder, but different. I have the room behind the fuse box, and room for another 120V breaker and circuit, it is just working in the confined area behind the fuse box that adds a little more difficulty. I called Progressive Dynamics who verified that there is a PD9260C-14.8 deck mount converter that does produce the 14.8 volts needed by the Trojans. The only retailer is Best Converter which is where I purchased the 4655L Wildkat which is set for 14.4 volts. The deck mounts are slightly more work to put in, so I'm trying to decide if it is really worth the trouble to return the 4655 and re-order the 9260-c and put in the deck mount for the extra 0.4 volts. At the risk of hi-jacking the OPs thread, I have a related question: I just bought a Progressive dynamics Wildcat 4655L that has a 4 stage charger (14.4, 13.6, 13.2, 14.4 desulfation), and was expecting to upgrade to two Costco 6V batteries, but is this the correct convertor for 6V batteries?
