Drive carefully and slow down when you see wildlife. Very easy to do.Re: WalmartianI’m with the “mind your own business” crowd. Unless you’re a professional tow truck driver or RV storage lot owner, best worry about your own. There’s a lot of reasons somebody may have left their camper there. Without knowing the full story, it’s silly to inject yourself into somebody else’s situation. But that’s just my opinion.Re: Truck Camper Disposal? Why dispose of it if someone else might use it? As others have said, place an ad on Craigslist and offer it for free. With so many people having a hard time financially these days, it might help someone out who really needs or wants a camper. Karma and all that!Re: So My Neighbor Shot a BB At My Camper...Age isn't an excuse for dangerous and destructive behavior. What if he shoots out somebody's eye? Older people should know better than younger folks about how to avoid just plain stupid and dangerous activities. I sure as shootin' (no pun intended....or is it?) would NOT let it go. Unless he agreed to let me periodically shoot out his windows when I felt like it.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Resealed the skylight in my shower yesterday, just in time for the rainstorms that rolled through last night. Second time in a year, but last time I missed the bad caulk on the vent next to it and some water was leaking under that, to accumulate at the corner of the skylight and dribble down. Problem solved and the shower was nice and dry this morning. Time to start planning a fall trip to Big Bend.Re: trip to denverBeing from Wyoming, I'd say the suggestion to avoid I-80 is a good one. Wind and winter blizzards can and do occur right through till early June. If the weather is clear though, go for it. Towns every 90 miles give or take right along the UP railroad and no major changes in grade. Just nice, gentle, sometimes boring open country with antelope and the occasional bear around Elk Mountain (saw one in mid-afternoon just strolling along a fence line north of the interstate).Re: TC and toys...What do you take, where do you take them?We bring kayaks and that's it. I drive every day for work, so the very last thing I want to do is drive a gas-powered machine on my time off. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, and snorkeling for me. Occasionally I'll drag my boat, but so rarely it hardly counts.Re: Palomino brand TC, would you recommend?I had a 2001 Palomino Bronco and it was poorly constructed. Mostly1x2 wood that was stapled together. The fabric top wasn't completely sealed at the corners so bugs and rain got in when the top was up. They may have improved their quality since then, but I went to a Lance hard side and I've been much happier. Aluminum frame and better construction on all fronts.Re: New to us Lance.Sounds like you have as much mechanical luck as I do. It's ALWAYS something. Good on ya being able to find and repair the cause of the leak! And enjoy your Lance! In Curry Hammock campground earlier this week, there were only 2 TC's among the monster motor home. Mine and another. Both Lances. And strangely, BOTH from Texas. What're the odds?!Re: Is a truck camper right for me?I always liked the way truck campers looked, the ease of towing trailers and boats, and the maneuverability. For just me and my wife, or just me on my fishing trips, the TC was always the best way to go once I had enough $$ saved and was ready to leave the tent. Having said that, for just me and my wife, our TC is perfectly sized. If we had a kid or two, there's no way we could all share. Just not enough room. As others have said, a tent would be needed, or possibly a TT. Your mileage may vary.
