When you first hook water up, I'd carefully look and listen throughout the trailer and underneath to make sure you don't have leaks. I know it's been winterized, but sitting outside that long you may have had mice or squirrels getting into the underbelly or cabinets and chewing through the lines. They seem to like the pink stuff. Re: Who’s planning We just re-entered RV ownership, so trip planning is in full swing. We had sold our last rv in 2019 so after a 5 year hiatus I am enjoying this part of the process again. 2024 will be mostly short trips of several hours in either direction, but planning more for 2025, and hopefully will be retiring in 3 years or so then we want to travel extensively, God willing. Re: Dave's View from the Cheap Seats - Or RV Forum vs. the Serenity Prayer Weird thing is, I edited a post of mine yesterday in this thread, but when I click on the arrow now on one of my posts it does not give me the Edit option. I'm logged in, but it's not there now. Re: Dave's View from the Cheap Seats - Or RV Forum vs. the Serenity Prayer I've scrolled through all of my "Replies" and it seems they go back to early 2013. I know I posted/replied in the period between my join date in 2006 and 2013, but those aren't showing up. Not a big deal to me, but I offer this as anecdotal evidence that perhaps posts older than 10-11 years old didn't migrate over? Re: Dave's View from the Cheap Seats - Or RV Forum vs. the Serenity Prayer All good points and nice perspective. I think I joined rv.net around 2006. Have never been a prolific poster but am a consistent reader. There were many things about the old site that were aggravating, such as the broken search function. But the site still felt like an old pair of shoes. Comfortable simply because of familiarity. Now we have new shoes. They take a while to break in. Right now I feel like I have a couple of blisters. But I think with consistent use they will break in and be fine. Now I am going to go into the preferences and see if I can tweak things a bit to my liking. Thanks for the suggestion. Re: Do it yourself Oil Change on Newmar class a gas motorhomeIf you change your own oil on your cars and trucks, there’s nothing really different or more difficult about doing so on a gas motorhome. In some ways it’s easier because of the high clearance. The only oddity about my last F53 motorhome was the drain plug being right above the front axle. I cut a milk jug to act as a diverter for draining the oil. But the oil changes weren’t difficult, and it’s always good to get under there and look around.Re: Motorhome InsuranceWhen we had a motorhome we insured through Foremost.Re: Anyone else going this year?My brother is up there right now. If you see a Roadtrek class B with Maine tags, say hello to Bill.Re: Motorhomes with 19.5 vs 22.5 tiresFor what it's worth, I've owned two Winnebago gasser motorhomes. Both same length (35-36'), very similar floorplans. First was a 2007, F53 with 19.5" Goodyear tires. Second was a 2014, also F53, with 22.5" Michelins. The 2014 coach handled significantly better than the 2007. Could it be the tires? I think that was a contributing factor. But, were there improvements in the F53 chassis in that time? Did Winnie design the coach differently, with different weight distribution, beefier components, etc? There are a lot of variables. If the first coach had been equipped with 22.5" tires or the second with 19.5", would the handling have been reversed? I can't answer that. But, anecdotally I can tell you the one with 22.5's did handle better. Clear as mud?Re: Wireless headphones/dvd player speakersAt that age there’s a good chance the headphones work off infrared technology rather than Bluetooth. So if you look on Amazon it might be difficult to find ones that work. I’d try looking on eBay for something…maybe search for any info you can find on the unit to get a match. I will say when we had bunk dvd players like that in a 2007 Itasca mh some old infrared headphones from a minivan worked, so you might have luck finding something used from an automobile that’ll work. Good luck.
