The piece that bolts on from the left (you can see that piece in my earlier picture, bolted onto the valve from the left) is supposed to - I think - press the left pipe tight into the valve. However, the piece simply slides of the pipe on the left. It is not tightening anything. When everything is bolted as shown in the picture, I can simply grab the valve and pull it to the right. A gap between the valve and the left pipe opens up as shown in the picture. I don't know if anything fell off over time, or perhaps the piece that bolts onto the valve from the left was attached to the left pipe but broke off ... Can anyone look at their grey tank valve assembly to see how the left pipe bolts onto the valve? Thanks Grey tank valve replacement: am I missing something? I noticed my grey tank valve leaking so I ordered a new one (Valterra) as I have done in the past. When I removed the four bolts, however, I noticed that the assembly on the left (going to the opening where you hook up the sewer hose) is loose. I'll try to post a picture: in the picture, all the bolts are tightened, but I can simply pull the pipes apart. The bolts are supposed to keep everything in place so I wonder if I'm missing anything? Did the place where the bolts go break off from the RV pipe? Thanks! Re: We just bought a fifth wheel! Several questions ...Thanks! We won't have access to shore power. The house will be off grid and run on solar. I'm thinking one or two batteries in the RV to charge with Renogy. I can monitor and add panels if needed. We are thinking about getting a Jackery with solar panel separately to place in the living area to charge our phones and laptop. Heating will be catalytic so no RV battery needed. Or perhaps a diesel heater once I can get around to taking on that project. We just bought a fifth wheel! Several questions ...We just bought a used 2009 fifth wheel to put on our land and live in while we build. The one thing that doesn't work on the fifth wheel is the battery so the first thing to do is to replace that. Before we start buying stuff for the fifth wheel, we have a few questions that hopefully someone can help us with. 1) Since there is plenty of room in the battery storage compartment, we can pretty much fit whichever battery group size. Does the group size matter? In our old Casita trailer, we only had very limited room for 1 battery so of course we had to buy the correct group size. How does this apply to the fifth wheel? 2) The fifth wheel only as one battery (which is dead). We'd like to put at least two or three 12V AGM batteries. I assume we can connect the RV to one of these three, and connect the batteries in parallel (positive to positive, negative to negative) to keep the batteries 12V? 3) We're going to hook up a Renogy solar panel (with built-in controller). Do we simply connect the solar panel to one of these three 12V batteries? Thanks!!AC doesn't coolWe full-time in our RV and typically boondock (solar). In 2022, I estimate we stayed in an RV park perhaps for up to two months. All of this to say that we don't use our AC much, since we don't have enough battery capacity to run it while boondocking. So, during our latest stay in an RV park, it was into the 80s in south Texas and I turned on the AC. It clicked on and it sounded like the AC compressor came on but the air coming out of the unit wasn't particularly cold. It's a 2009 RV with a rooftop AC unit. Any maintenance / troubleshooting tips to try? Do these have freon that I can check / add if needed? Thanks! JornConnect multiple portable solar panels? We have a portable 100W panel from Renogy that comes with a built-in controller. Two cables go to the battery connect on the RV. How hard is it to connect a second 100W panel? I assume we'll need to buy a 100W panel without a built-in controller? Thanks!Copper Canyon? We made it back from Alaska and are now staying in New Mexico ... eager to cross into Mexico. Since we have never visited the Copper Canyon region, we're wondering if there are any major safety concerns driving our RV across the border in southern New Mexico? (Antelope Wells or Columbus) We'd like to drive via Nuevo Casas Grandes (visit nearby ruins) and Laguna Babicora (sandhill cranes & snow geese spend winter here) to the Copper Canyon area. We're thinking of camping for a few weeks in the Creel area (I believe they have a former KOA campground here) and visit nearby areas in/along the canyon, and nearby Basaseachi waterfalls. Thanks!Re: Refrigerator is deadUpdate: the fridge is working again. A guy came by to help troubleshoot. He tapped his hammer on the control board and instantly the fridge came alive! So, he said some electrical connection probably corroded and the tap of the hammer restored the connection. He recommended to replace the control board. Makes sense? I'm about to look for the replacement board.Re: Refrigerator is deadUpdate: after tracing where the wire loses the voltage, I got that fixed. I confirmed that the wire going into the control board at the back of the fridge is now receiving 13.3V However, the fridge is still not turning on. I just did some research and, once I get back home, will check the control board to see that 12V power is leaving to the fridge power button.Re: Refrigerator is deadLooks like it's either Dometic RM2351, RM2451 or RM2551. Unsure how to know which of these three as the Dometic manual schematics in the RV lists these three for what matches what I see at the back of the fridge. I tested both fuses on the control board and they're ok. I tested 12V power leaving the RV's power center and it's ok. When the power arrives at the back of the fridge, the multimeter only shows around 2.9 so not sure if I'm testing it wrong or if there could be an issue for the 12V not reaching the fridge and I should check the cable between the fridge and the RV's power center.
