After arriving in Indiana from a kid visit in Virginia, we spent some time visiting with my Mom. She had transferred from the hospital to a very nice nursing home/rehab wing. Her fall had cracked her pelvis in 3 places but I thank God she didn't break a hip. She had pain, but was able to start therapy immediately. She is 93. At the evaluation last week, which included a home visit by Mom and the therapists, they concluded she will do this last full week at rehab and then will be able to go home with a walker and Home Health 2-3 days a week. She is really doing well. I've spent a lot of time with her the last week and she is dressing and undressing herself and doing her bathroom duties alone. Her house is handicapped accessible even the shower, so home health will be able to assist with her shower if needed the first couple weeks at home.
It was time for us to leave to do our spring round of doctor appointments, so we left last Sunday and are busy with those visits. On Wednesday we leave here and head to Florida to babysit for our granddaughter while our son and his wife go on his incentive trip from work. We have some other plans to look at RV properties in Florida and make our way back to Mississippi for Terry's family reunion and to Red Bay for some coach work. We will return to northern Indiana mid June and continue to work on cleaning out our last rental property so we can put it up for sale. We will then get Mom a couple times and bring her to stay with us for a week at a time. It gives her a change of scenery and gives my sister a break from watching Mom.
Normally I watch Mom all winter and my sister watches her all summer. So nothing is really changed there. But my sister will have her year round now that she no longer wants to go to Texas. So I will try and give her several breaks this summer so she can get away with her husband/family.
We will be at Elkhart Campground upon our return in June through September when we leave to head south again. If anyone is around, stop in and visit!
