Good morning everyone. Yesterday was a great day spent with daughter Allison. She introduced me to a neighbor Saturday and Sunday I got an invitation to visit him, by the way his name is Richard also. He is the proud owner of a 1969 Camaro with a 396 engine. He also owns a new Camaro with a lot of engine in it. He took me for a ride in both down a narrow twisting highway at speeds you don't even want to think about. The 69 Camaro was a very exciting ride. I heard the tires bark when it went into fourth gear at better than one hundred MPH. The new Camaro was a little tamer, but very impressive. I drove the 72 Lincoln over for Richard to look at, but it was pale compared to his two.
Yesterday we put Dixie to the test. We left her out when we went to Allison's. When we returned home we found she had been a perfect lady, nothing chewed or out of place except an old sock bag from the laundry room.
Yesterday Jeff left for what they call the Iron Butt Ride and that is covering one thousand miles in twenty four hours. The plan was to ride to Titusville, Florida and back home. Jeff made it to Jacksonville, Florida where his bike's clutch went out. He spent the rest for the day getting it repaired at a Harley Davidson shop to the tune of seventeen hundred dollars. One of the guys stayed with Jeff while the repairs were made while the other two went on to Titusville and came back to Jacksonville to ride back with Jeff and the other guy. They got back at one O'clock this morning.
Hopefully we will get the Montana back this week and start looking at going to Savannah, Georgia for a few days. We won't be able to go until late in July as I have church duties while our pastor recuperates from his heart sugary.
Sue is out with he girls for their morning walk while it is nice and cool. We had a huge thunderstorm pass through cooling things off yesterday. There was some damage to trees and power lines in some areas but we were spared.
I read a very interesting article about Opossums. I never thought much of them being a pet, but I read of a rescue that tries to care for abandoned Opossum babies. There was an interesting story of one rescue that refused to leave the foster home when he was returned to the wild. He became a pet that was so adorable. Now I never thought Opossums to be adorable. I remember them from days of the farm when you would find them inside dead animals eating rotten flesh. But this article described how this animal was so attached to the rescue lady that he pretty much went with her just about every where she went. He slept with her in the bed and loved to cuddle up in her lap. Then I read that these animals only live to be about two or three years old. No one seems to know why they have such a short life span but that is the way it is. It was interesting to read and gave me a new prospective on Opossums.
Okay I hope all is well with everyone and I wish you a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.
