We've had some rain and cool weather for this time of year - 70s with rain. The real unusual thing is we've had pretty strong north to northeast winds. They have 7+ foot waves on Lake Michigan with warnings about rip currents.
Not the best weekend for the Chicago to Mackinac sailboat race. For those of you not familiar, this is the oldest fresh water sailing race in the world (110th year this year). Normally our prevailing winds are from the south/southwest making the race "easier." Just set your sails and point towards the top of Lake Michigan (OK not really that simple).
Since sailboats don't go into the wind, the tactics and tacking have made this race really challenging. They also have lost one sailor overboard and the coast guard hasn't found him...
