Good morning everyone. Its very cloudy this morning with the temperature standing at 70 degrees. Sue left with the girls to walk down to the Ungers to buy some tomatoes. It rained off and one yesterday so the grass is too wet to mow, needs cutting before it gets knee high.
Today is going to be much of the same, rain and cloudy skies with mild temperatures. This is unusual weather for August here in the Deep South. As a kid growing up I was used to seeing the grass and fields withering form the heat and no rain during this time of year. School would start after Labor Day allowing the farmer kids to help gather the cotton crop and get it to the gin house.
Things have changed a lot from those days. I remember when there was not A/C in the house or cars. We had a huge attic fan that was turn on with the windows left open to bring in the outside air. The air coming into the house was hot during the day but at night it turned cool. I remember lying in bed listening to the sounds of the night thinking that maybe out there somewhere was gobbling just waiting to climb into the house through an open window. The creature from the Black Lagoon was out there for sure and just waiting for us to go to sleep so he could come and get us.But I was secure that our old dog named Trouble would come to rescue us just in the nick of time.
Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.
