Good morning everyone. I think I missed the Cold War. I was so wrapped up in what I was doing at the time nothing else mattered. I was young, just married and working on cars, that was my world. I remember the Cuban missile crisis, but at the time I really didn't think much of it. Now I understand that it was the closest we have ever been to a full scale nuclear war.
Our president John F Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev were standing toe to toe daring either to cross over the line. The Soviet Union finally backed down so WWIII was adverted. October 1962 I was busy with trying to win stock car races or win on the drag strip on Sundays. Trying to juggle that with a new bride and a new baby took much of my time. Wish I had more balance in my life back then to put the real priorities first.
Anyway we survived and prospered as I found my way into Daniels Lincoln Mercury in Augusta, Georgia. Those were some fun days and also some very hard days as I learned about life and running a business.
