Never worried about the cold war either, it was just a fact of life growing up. I was in grade school in the sixties.

Yes I was in the dealership during the muscle car era. I had a 1966 Comet Cyclone with a 390 engine that was much akin to the 427, My version had a high lift cam with solid lifters with a high rise manifold with a big Holley four barrel sitting on top. It was a screamer, loved that car.
