Good morning everyone. So, we have dogs that can spell. Our two have figured out what t-r-e-a-t-s spelled out is also. The word g-o, they have figured out as well. The word b-a-t-h has become recognizable to them also. That is when Suzie goes and hides, Dixie runs to the shower ready to get in. Dog ownership is a wonderful thing and always full of surprises. Suzie still has a faint smell of skink on her, I guess it will wear off in time.
All is well here at Camp Dixie. Sue just left with the girls for their morning walk. Yesterday I cut grass, took the Ford Edge to have the oil changed. I stopped going to the dealership with it to cut cost. I buy the oil and filter and take it to a friend of mine who has a muffler shop and get it changed there. The F250 diesel I will take back to the dealership to keep the warranty from being questioned should anything happen to the engine or transmission.
This has been a laid back summer for us, no long trips were planned except to Georgetown Kentucky which was about four hundred miles one way. This October will go to Millersburg, Ohio and that's it. That trip is about five hundred and thirty five miles for us. I really think this will be our last summer with the truck and camper. Next April I will be seventy-eight years old and perhaps it will be time to hang it up, sell them both and put the money into a retirement account with the rest of our money.
Sue is still suffering from lower back pain and no one seems to be able to find out what is wrong. She has read many books on back pain and it can become scary as there is a multitude of things that causes back pain including some forms of cancer. She tried acupuncture and that seemed to work for a while, she tried different kinds of other therapy that seemed to work for a while, but nothing lasted as a cure. Her brother Ted died from pancreatic cancer and he had all the symptoms of back pain, discoloration of urine and problems with bile and other things which makes Sue nervous. His death was a long slow process that when he died he was nothing but skin and bones.
Ted had a beautiful home in Wisconsin. His home overlooked a big lake, He called me one day, it was during he winter and told me he had just hit a golf ball over four hundred yards. He stood in his back yard which was elevated over the lake and hit a drive onto the frozen lake. He said when the golf ball hit the ice it just kept on going. He often had bears come to his house and raid the bird feeders. His home was such a tranquil place to be in the summer. The lake was beautiful and the fishing was good. If you could stand the icy water he had a place to swim along side his dock. Our Levi loved to go there and swim in the lake. He would stay in the water until you called him out and then he would sit on the patio staring at the water wanting to go back in.
Okay enough of reminiscing and lets get back to today. I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.
