We got home a little before noon. It is hotter here than at the lake. We enjoyed our stay and was sad to leave. Every time we visit Modoc I always leave a piece of my heart. There will never be another Old Fella, or even close. The memories are bitter sweet. Each time I look at that first picture of him standing there looking at me I see those soulful eyes. So glad I went back and got him, if not his story would have never been told. I feel that each time I go there something is left unsaid, undone in so many ways. His legacy lives on in the Old Fella Burke County Animal Rescue and the memorial in the city park gives testimony of his last days as an icon for old stray dogs. Maybe years from now someone will tell his story in a way that draws people into his life in such a way that the rescue effort will explode like a wildfire.
Okay I am going to close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.
